What Game Did You Play Today?

Beat Brigmore Witches and spent a little more time in the Talos Principle. I was worried that the puzzles would all be extremely simple but I spent so long on one today that the god character told me to stop and come back later. I solved it shortly after (after going and doing another puzzle) but still.

Some Portal Stories: Mel. Decent mod so far. I have no complaints but the puzzles are pretty hard. Not for the faint of heart!

I have gotten to…

the Virgil core and put him on the management rail

…so far. I wonder what’s next…

I’ll be the first to admit, at times I struggled with even Portal 1 and 2.

But holy damn these puzzles are insane. I had to look up solutions to some of them because I just couldn’t be bothered trying to figure it out anymore.

Portal Stories: Mel

Been playing The Talos Principle, Thief, and Styx intermittently the last week or so. More recently I started playing GTAV a bit more, mostly trying to fix some technical issues. Managed to fix the stuttering I’ve been having (especially when driving) by going into offline mode, which is cool, though I have no idea why being online but playing single player would cause stuttering.

Mass Effect 2. I finished the original Mass Effect this last weekend as part of my quest to finally play Mass Effect 3. This game is better than I remember: I remembered it being samey and boring next to the original, with a weird side story that was a lot smaller in scope and that lacked the same “saving the galaxy” feel.

I finally finished Wasteland 2 today and it took me just 120 hours…
I really liked the game and I really do hope there’s gonig to be a successor to this. Some quest require a lot of runnig around though. And the story starts of really moody and especially the use of the radio during your travels through the wasteland of Arizona adds to the feeling that there’s some threat somewhere that is hard to grasp and beyond your imagination.
The second half of the game lacks this mood unfortunately, though I still enjoyed it and stayed motivated to play to the end.
I guess I need to add that I am a very slow player, reloaded A LOT just to see what some quest would turn out if I had done them diffrently. So a normal player would probably need 2/3 of the time I needed, maybe just the half even. There is a lot of decision making and the results are sometimes devastatingly diffrent, which is pretty cool! And there is also A LOT to discover in the wastes.

I recommend it to any turn-based RPG fans that are prepared to sit in this for some time. I know I enjoyed it.

“What’s the deal with people hiding shit in toasters?”

I have found myself coming back to Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. So replayable, especially once you screw around with mods.

I’ve finally made it to Mass Effect 3. I just finished one of the big quest missions only to find that all of my fuel, credits, and medi-gel had disappeared.

No, it’s cool. I’ll play the whole fucking mission over again.

Huh. Was that a glitch? I don’t remember that ever happening to me.

I finished Dishonored for the 4th time and did some TF2 Gun Mettle contracts recently. I also nostalgia tripped on Super Mario Bros. 3 a bit recently.

Haven’t seen that glitch myself, in ME3.

I’ve loved the game myself. It was just pretty good, but then I got to the final Tuchanka mission and holy crap that was good.

I’ve started playing Portal Stories: Mel. Very impressed so far, and it’s really satisfying once you have that “Eureka” moment.

Yeah, it’s a known issue. It happens when you die during an autosave. I was doing the first real combat mission of Leviathan, where you go to the asteroid mining facility to recover Dr. Garneau, and I died right as I finished beating two banshees. I think one of them must have cast some lasting effect on me, or something.

And of course, I didn’t realize there was a problem until I cleared the mission and tried to fly away, and found that I was out of fuel, even though I filled up right before I flew out of the system. So I went to the fuel depot, and had no credits to buy more fuel with. The only save I had before the glitch was the “restart mission” autosave.

The game itself has been good, although I still hate the “one button does everything” design as much as I did in ME2, because realistically it means, “one button does everything but the one thing you want it to do.” If I vault over the cover and into the line of fire instead of Dark Souls-rolling over to the adjacent cover one more time…

Spec Ops: The Line.

Am I imagining it, or does this game adjust the FOV to be wider every time there’s an impressive set piece to look at?

A lot of Payday 2.
Any of you play Payday 2?

Yes. Actually just ran the Alesso Heist for the first time last night. Got most of the way through stealthed.

Cradle finally came out and it’s fun as fuck. The main part of the game so far is kind of like an adventure game where you’re looking for things to use on other things to progress the story. And while there are “hints” by pressing tab they’re more like journal notes. The game never (at least so far) really holds you hand, which is great. Then there’s little minigames inside the amusement park that you have to do to get special items it seems. Just finished the first one where you have to collect blue blocks while some monster thing is exploding and getting rid of blocks. And you can combine certain blocks to make more blue blocks to collect.

It’s so poorly optimized though and it doesn’t help that there’s fuck all for graphics options (it’s a “quality” slider much like Metro) so you can’t test out certain settings separately. You can’t even rebind keys either which is stupid.

Edit: Poorly optimized in that even on setting 7 out of 10 I’m still getting drops into the 40s and such and if it’s something like the lod being set insanely high (which you can see the lod adjust when you raise the setting) you can’t even lower the lod while keeping things like the shadow quality good. Also you can’t disable motion blur and I don’t even know which setting level turns it on but it might be part of the issue with the stuttering at higher settings.

Been playing Deus Ex. I forgot how great this game is.

Also, got CoD-AW from a friend. I mean, honestly it’s not bad. Definitely not rave worthy. But it’s pretty fun and cinematic (maybe ridiculously so), and Exo-Zombies is kinda cool, I like the exo’s. They make it more fun for me honestly, both in the regular game and zombies/exo survival.

Multiplayer sucks ass tho, for many reasons. Exo’s, fan base is like 8-12 year olds, and it’s just generally kinda shitty.

I went to infamy 7 on Payday 2, after sitting at 6-100 for a few days.

Yay, I guess.
