I still haven’t been able to get into it, I’ve tried a couple times now. I was the same way with Deus Ex. Maybe one day I’ll beat SS2.
I got SS2 in the Steam sale, I mean at that price ($0.99) it’s worth it just to have in your collection and despite its age, still holds up well.
The mod package helps with the graphics.
Wolfenstein: The New Order’s stealth is great. It’s the only game I’ve played where I can be running and go into a slide while simultaneously whipping a knife off my hip and throwing it into the back of a Nazi’s head over 100 feet away. 10/10 would hit random B.S knife throw again
Finished Alice Madness Returns. Brilliant game. Loved the story, loved the gameplay, love the art and design. Everything about it was incredible.
Started on Grow Home. Fun little game and since it’s more of a calm enjoyable experience I’ll play it in tandem with another game. Probably going to restart Darksiders since the last time I got about an hour in and then forgot about it.
Finished Knife of Dunwall and played some more X-COM Apocalypse. Lost a soldier, though before she died she survived a brainsucker attack and being attacked by 3 multiworms.
Some Far Cry 4 yesterday. Fucking hate De Pluer’s stupid compound sneaking mission. I had the 6P9 and got caught, did a 180 and (quite efficiently I was hella impressed with myself) landed headshots on both guys nearest me and emptied the clip into the torso of the furthest man. No signal flares or anything but I got caught. Kinda lame, but the kills were fantastic tbh.
Terraria.
Our mage got the Golden Shower spell. He won’t stop giggling in the Skype call and making watersports jokes.
Life is Strange, Episode 1. Wasn’t entirely sure it was going to be my type of game, but I’m seriously loving it so far. One of the characters is so eerily similar to one of my friends both in mannerisms and style that it’s just about uncomfortable.
Dishonored sucked me back in again and I’m gonna finish my third run today. I was going for the Art Dealer achievement to get all of the collectable paintings in the game. Turns out THE FINAL PAINTING IN THE ENTIRE GAME is unobtainable because of a sidequest I deliberately avoided earlier in the game. Oh well, at least I’ve got a fourth playthrough to look forward to. This run was fun: Only level 1 Blink, only kill targets and make it look like an accident, on Very Hard. Such a good game. Can’t wait to buy the DLC.
I need to go back and play on Very Hard and try to get the achievement where you’re not seen ever & don’t kill anyone (Ghost I believe). That should be fun, love me some Dishonored.
DLC is hella good IMO. I find it super fun and the situations you’re in feel a lot different to the main story/game.
The DLC is generally agreed to be better than the actual game and I think from having played Knife of Dunwall that that is right.
I’m slightly disappointed. I’ve been waiting to get some money from a refund so I could buy GOTY for the DLC before the Summer Sale ended, and it didn’t come yet, so I may end up waiting until QuakeCon to buy the DLC.
In the meantime, I got Mostly Flesh and Steel. Feels good, man.
Whenever you get it, you’ll be pleased. I loved it and will definitely go back and play it again.
Played Metro 2033 redux today. Was wondering why it was so blurry and hard to look at. Apparently my 670 can’t handle “very high”. High seems to be mostly fine though so that’s nice.
Metro 2033 Redux was beautiful.
The opening vanity plates and menu screen made me do one hell of a double-take when I realized it wasn’t pre-rendered.
Playing a lot of Sonic Runners because I don’t really know why
I heard from a lot of people that the game is poorly optimized, runs slow or outright doesn’t work but I guess I’m one of the lucky ones.
Been playing some farcry 4 recently. I’ve gotten really good at using the bow, to the point where I don’t even use a scoped rifle or assault rifle usually unless there’s a lot of targets or the targets are far away/heavily armed and armored.
Far Cry 3 bow tomfoolery is my favorite thing.
I honestly liked Far Cry 3’s world and stuff better but the main character sounded/acted like a loser and I honestly preferred Ajay over him. Tho his story made way more sense (he’s a pussy but he develops some skill thru practice. Ajay just goes right at it like it was something he’d always done.)
Finished the second mission in the Brigmore Witches DLC for Dishonored which took for fucking ever and I loved every minute of it and hope Dishonored 2 continues with the level design improvements. Actually not really every minute as towards the end one guard for some reason got suspicious and loitered around an area I needed to use which was annoying. Also I ended up with a lot of kills what with flooding the base with toxic gas and killing some witches so I didn’t get ghost. Oh well.
Also started playing the Talos Principle. Having seen screenshots it didn’t look like much of a graphical upgrade over SS3 but it really is. I like it so far. Nice to have a new puzzle game to play.
Ori and the Blind Forest. First the element of waters, and now the element of winds: it seems that every major quest landmark in this game is going to be followed by an environmental hazard pressure/twitch type level.
…have game designers somehow not figured out that this type of level, where you’re outrunning the rising goo, or being forced along by a panning screen, has been absolute fucking shit in every fucking game that has ever shitting well failed to implement it? It is simply not fun. At all. Ever. Disagree? You’re wrong, and a bad person, and your father never loved you.
Oh, and no quicksaves, which are normally available? So that when that section of ceiling falls that I had absolutely no way to anticipate and kills me instantly, I get to do the whole level over again, with the apparent intention being that I memorize every sister-sodomizing section of ceiling that falls without warning to smash me instantly? Fuck you. Choke on a cheese grater.
Do game developers see this shit on some checklist along with all the other tired feces that never work and think they have to put it in their fucking game? Ori had been so delightful, too; I can’t imagine what possessed its developers to ruin it with this cuntistry.
