What Game Did You Play Today?

Been playing Fire Emblem: Awakening on my new 3Ds. Playing on Hard/Casual because i don’t want anybody to die

This is probably one of the best non-Half-Life-universe game I’ve ever played. The voice acting is superb, the writing and the humor is excellent, and the open-world environment works very well. I heartily recommend this game.

I love that game. I never had a problem like that though

Played some FO3 earlier. Gonna probably play some more later.

Just curious, but why specifically non-Half-Life universe? Is that the only game universe you like?

I’ve played other non-Half-Life-universe games but LCU is probably the best of the bunch, IMHO.

Does it use the same format LEGO games have been using since LEGO Star Wars, or is it something new?

It’s something new. For one, it’s fully-voiced…not just the main characters and supporting cast, but the “extras” as well. There’s no licensed property to adhere to either; it’s an “original” story, though there are parodies to a lot of different movies and television shows in the game.

And, while the mission-based story is linear, there’s no requirement to continue the story if you don’t want to; you can do the side-missions or just explore the city to your heart’s content. Sure, you’ll need some abilities to access certain things that you can only get through the story, but once you get those abilities, you can use them anywhere and everywhere that you can get to (or get back to).

I don’t want to be too specific here as I don’t want to spoil anything.

After much trial and error I managed to get the documents from the military base in SoC while only killing two soldiers. I managed to get inside the building and knife someone before the alarm sounded too.

In the spare time, I play “Need For Speed: Most Wanted” on my Samsung Galaxy S2. It plays incredibly well, given the platform.

Which Most Wanted. There’s the good one and the suck-ass one.

The new one isn’t that bad. It could be a lot better but it’s certainly not Test Drive Unlimited 2 bad.

The FireMonkeys’ port of Criterion Games 2012 version.

can you actually like build things out of lego in that gmae

Red Faction

There are build points and there’s an animation for individual buildable things, but they’re premade (such as cabinets, vehicle call-in points, statues, etc). You can’t make your own LEGO creations (a la Minecraft).

I finally got around to beating Psychonauts. Maaan that is a good game.

I like the first Lego games the best. Lego Racers actually let you build your racer from brick sets of the time period, and the brick placement and types actually affected handling. The three power brick boost was completely game-breaking though because you could basically warp around the track ad-infinitum.

Rock Raiders on PC is fun too, when it’s not fucking you over with it’s horrible unit AI.

I like that game.

It’s really a shame that they didn’t require you to use the destruction physics all that much.

Yeah, I’m noticing that as I play

The XCOM council rep bitched me out big time on my Classic playthrough today. Got a D for the month because the UFOs started kicking the shit out of my Raven aircraft because I was still trying to update the fleet to Firestorm craft with decent weapons.

To be fair though, I’m heading into Act 3 with all sixteen council nations still in the project, and only four total battle casualties. Considering how much Classic steps up from Normal in terms of difficulty, I’d like to think that makes me a rather good XCOM player.
