The golden age of PC gaming - classic games

Damnit, busted.

Aladdin, and Fatty Bear

Good game, ever play the rest of the series?

Indeed. I have the space quest collection on steam. I haven’t gotten very far in any of the others though.

Except you don’t go back to Half-Life 10 years later only to discover an entire sub-section of an area, complete with its own mini-plot, characters, and its effects on dialogue trees. Half-Life isn’t a game where you act like a dick around the lab, and somebody later on actually notices, or characters appear/disappear due to your actions.

Deus Ex really made you feel like you had a presence in the universe, there’s so much content that years later you’re still finding new stuff

Yeah i guess you’re right, Half-Life isn’t a great game because Deus Ex exists

Completely different types of FPS’. Half-Life had more epic battles and a fast-paced, linear gameplay. Deus Ex had rpg elements, and a darker atmosphere. However both of these two are excellent ones in their own category.

deer hunter 2, 'nuff said

Yea they can be tricky, I got through all them as a kid. Fond memories and many hours wasted lol.

PM me if you want any hints.

Holding down a button while moving a stick has never been more thrilling.

Wrong thread.

Anyway

wow, reading this article certainly has been a trip down memory lane, Command and Conquer, Age of Empires (neither of the most recent sequels have lived up to their potential), Baldurs gate, TIE fighter (p.s. it’s cockpit not office), think I even saw Half life.
I’m gonna add a slightly less well known entry however… drum-roll…

man that was a unappreciated gem

P.S. I am surprised no-one has mentioned Myst, civilisation, settlers (the third and best) or Shogun total war. while admittedly every one of these games have been overshadowed by more recent and superior games in the series (except settlers) but still…

And still, I’m in love with Atlantis II (Beyond Atlantis in NA).

OMG!, this whole thread, and no one mentions No One Lives Forever?, god.
That’s a good old game from 2000…

Barneystein 3D. The first mod I ever played. It was for Wolfenstein 3D and turned all the Nazis into Beavis or Butthead with Hitler replaced with the eponymous dinosaur.

Yes I loved that game

Original Fallout games.

That’s because this thread is about classic games. I would not consider 10 year old games to be classic. You blasted young whipper snappers… :hmph:
