Parts of Half Life you didn't like

I liked that part but i wish they had kept the lighting and fog from the trailer.

It seemed like a more ominous atmosphere. Still, I guess that wouldn’t have fit as well with the rocket launch.

That wasn’t to stop the Citadel from blowing up, it was to stop it from blowing up before you were able to get out of Dodge.

Yeah, it made me really angry the first time mainly, because I didn’t listen to much of the dialogue and thought we were trying to stop it from blowing up.

I think you all agree with me. Ready? Blast pit.

no i think you need to elaborate.

Aside from the overpowering ambience in Residue processing, I found nothing wrong with those chapters.

HL1 : Xen
Mostly because although it may have been intended as a novelty “Wow - Alien planet!?” revelation, it was kinda stupid with the floating rocks and at the time I was playing on a laptop with 8M onboard GPU, so I had no skysphere/box just plain white - it was awful compared to the epicness of the struggle to get to that part of the game.

HL2: The water Hazard level too (I think that’s the one, with the boat thing?) Somehow my game was bugged, so there was no conversation with the person where you get the boat, and I couldn’t board the boat. I thought the game had a really unfair difficulty cirve as I spent ages trying to sprint and jump around the radioactive sludge and so on with the assault-choper thing behind me!
Though, on replaying later when it all worked, it was much easier naturally, and a lot more fun.
HL2:Ep1 and 2: I thoroughly enjoyed both of these, except in 2, I did get a bit bored of the mines and Antlion grub caves.

Funilly enough those were my favourite chapters of the games, besides the overpowering ambience in Residue Processing, as JeffMOD said.
Please, do say what you found wrong with those chapters.

So basically because you played on a crappy computer :stuck_out_tongue: . And that fucking cave in E2. I missed like 5 of those stupid baby things so I didn’t get the achievement :’( .

That damned intro to Half-Life 1… It’s so long, and annoying!

The part where it introduces who you are, shows you some of the base, and allows you to interact with stuff before all hell breaks loose :hmph: ?

Strider & Hunter Battle.

The part were you find out that Hl: S isn’t a complete overhaul on the new Source engine :meh:

I’ll say the City 17 Underground level of Ep 1. I just don’t like complete darkness. The flashlight sucks, the phys flares suck more, and I get scared easily. I wouldn’t have been able to last five minutes had I played it five years ago.

That part totally set the mood for me. that part was so trippy to me because that was the first shooter game I’d played that had such an immersive, atmospheric introduction. I remember it created this illusion that It was really a big world and, I could go anywhere from that point in the game. Right up to the resonance cascade, where I was sure I had done something wrong and was about to see a GAME OVER screen.

I like that level, and even before they nerfed the elevator I didn’t think it was all that hard.

Can I take this moment to complain about the “autogun” in “Under the Radar” chapter of Episode 2? I totally understand the concept and why the scene is there, but it takes friggin’ forever to get through the junkyard to finally get to the building with the autogun. I wouldn’t have minded as much either, but you have to fucking crawl almost the entire way there.

Interloper
It was :\ eh
not very exciting imho
plus those controllers annoyed the piss outta me… I nearly used all my pistol ammo

and the nihilanth battle. I’d be about ready to jump up and put the whoop on him, but his failed teleporter thingy spawned… A CONTROLLER

and in Blue Shift, what with all of the vent areas? And in Captive Freight where there were all those vorts and headcrabs… I actually disliked headcrabs for once >…>

Opposing Force… the gene worm was the biggest waste of my time EVAR

/rant

Other than that everything was great :retard:

The part in hl2 with the airboat. It got old so fast, I completely stopped playing the game at the dam part.
