Half-Life 3 is in development

I just thought I would bump this thread for some activity.

I really, truly hope they haven’t just abandoned the project. Even just letting it fall by the wayside would be pretty lame.

I may actually boycott Valve if it ever becomes apparent that’s the case.

That was posted somewhere on here already

You’ll see L4D3 first… Im very confident in that

That’s slightly ominous coming from a developer.

No it’s not.

How? It seems the most plausible situation.

Black Mesa retail confirmed to be L4D3.

It’s been 7 years since Episode 2 was released…happy anniversary everyone… :frowning: .

Yeah. Half Life 2 is gonna turn 10 this year. Feeling old yet?

I remember when I got the limited edition for HL2. I remember installing it. I do feel old.

Pssht, I remember buying Half-Life. In a brick-and-mortar store.

It’s like a fossil

I hope not, there are people holding me to my word.

Probably dumb conspiracy theory time: Valve is holding off on Half-Life 3 because they’re centering it really heavily around VR from the ground up and are waiting for consumer VR to hit the market.

It’d make sense in some way. They’ve always really pushed immersion with the Half-Life series hl1 with story telling and hl2 with graphics/physics and interactivity. If they’re looking for a new angle to push the envelop VR would really make sense. And we know they worked heavily on VR hardware internally.

The one issue being tons of people wouldn’t have access to vr hardware and would miss out on three full experience.

My conspiracy theory is that HL3 will be the first official post steambox release

Portal 3 L4D 3 TF3 HL 3 any new game Valve make ending with a 3 would be nice  Loaded up the original HL earlier just to see how outdated it was and decided to have some fun and make a vid of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Elqs3pwVOCg If only it really was properly confirmed though

All Valve needs to do is to just make a news post with the number “3” on it (and nothing else) to cause the video game to lose their shit.

It’s going to be awesome.

They already did more than that, they posted a video of gabe saying “these things take time” while tempering a crowbar and nobody seems to have lost their shit over it.

Nice. You still even have the original Soundtrack case (at least, I’m assuming that’s what the plastic CD case at the bottom right is).

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
