Are you a rapist? Apparently you should be....

I’m not saying there’s no bias, of course there is. But I’m sure CNN and the others are full of it too. You can’t be human, and not have bias on a particular subject. As I’m sure your own bias is skewing your opinions of Fox.

The news in Egypt is important, to say otherwise is foolhardy, as I watched my fair share of it on CNN. However one gets sick of hearing the same stuff all day. At least there’s some variety elsewhere.

We could also have a ton of discussion (of which I don’t want to get into – because this is the internet, and the internet sucks when it comes to these discussions) of who is right; the conservatives, or the liberals. Both sides have excellent points, and both sides have their off handed retardedness. So to say that one side is entirely right while the other is entirely wrong, is faulty logic, which gets both parties nowhere in an opposing debate.

The point is some of the stuff on Fox is downright bullshit. You will never get downright bullshit with a respectable network like CNN. They claimed atheists were forcing religious people to take down religious Christmas decorations. What actually happened was the city wanted more room in the area the decoration was being put in. It had nothing to do with anyone being atheist.

And the only reason there might be “variety” is because many news stations will fill things with fluff and unimportant events. What’s happening in Egypt is staggeringly the most important topic right now so it’d make sense for it to get the vast majority of attention.

And you are to a certain extent correct; it’s not really right or wrong, more middle/lower class or upper class. The Republicans want to help the rich and the Democrats (at least in theory) want to help the poor and middle class.

And it’s not “atheists” that want to take down religious decorations on public property. The first ones to do that are the Jehovah’s Witnesses or Jewish people. Or they’re even Christians that simply want the 1st Amendment to be followed to the Founders’ intent. “Atheism” is not anti-religion, no matter how much some try to claim.

yeah im a raper

didnt you say you were gonna rape me a while ago?

IM STILL WAITING

Talking about this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKzF173GqTU

I am starting to wonder, how will they handle DNF (surely you all saw it’s new trailer). Anyway, I know how Duke Nukem will handle them  .

The best thing about these debates is that even if the game is solid, a few skillfull pervs can make a nude mod for it in no time. :terror: Half-Life 2 is a good example for that.

There’s just as much bullshit from both sides but you don’t see it as bullshit because you agree with it.

How the hell did we get on politics anyway? Weren’t we having a nice discussion about rape and how there’s a stigma against the video game community?

Ahhhh… not really. No other news station liberal or otherwise will EVER bullshit you as much as fox does, or at least not in the liberal direction. I’ve seen a lot of bullshit on ABC in the conservative direction. Like saying that Democratic politicians who were disagreeing with a deal Obama behind their backs were just “trying to save face”. They were disagreeing not because of some bullshit like saving face, they were disagreeing because the deal made fucked over the American people (or at least that should be their reason). But either way, a news station should NEVER state an opinion without making it stunningly obvious it’s an opinion. The news station’s job is to tell you everything there is to know about the subject and then let you make your own opinion.

im still walking over there

shut the fuck up garth god damn

I think that garth is an intellectual individual and I value his thoughts. Please proceed with your bullshit, garth.

walk faster, pathetic self-pity is rising to dangerous levels as i near my 21st birthday :frowning:

okay not really

@garth the “let the viewer decide” attitude is one of the most insidious techniques for faking impartiality in modern media
(read john pilger’s heroes and you’ll know what i’m talking about)
(john pilger is one of the most respected journalists of the past 50 years btw)

I was just watching re-runs of ICONS from G4 (when G4 was actually good) and even though they’re not related in the least, Carole Leiberman (the psychologist in question) shares the last name as Congressman Joe Leiberman who, on a number of occasions, was outspoken against video games. He even partnered with the infamous, now disbanded, Jack Thompson on several occasions to speak out against the violence in video games.

Ironic.

I remember when G4 was good. Before they got rid of all of their original shows, and only kept two of techTV’s original shows. And then they completely changed the format of one of them, and ripped out the funny segments of the other.

I remember TechTV before G4 existed. Good times. :’(

While this discussion has certainly picked up considerably, can we get back on topic with this crazy author’s bullshit accusations and why she connects rape to video games?

I remember that too, but I didn’t get either channel until after G4 bought TechTV.

I think this thread has been thoroughly derailed by a discussion only Americans can comprehend :frowning:

It’s funny because I play games like Postal 2: AWP all the time; running around and cutting people in half or blowing their heads off and then pee on them as a taunt. However, I am one of the nicest people in my town. I’m not just saying that either, I know that from how people push it into my god damn head all the time.

Basically, G4 (a TV network) had a good thing going when they bought TechTV (another TV network) then they ruined it by canceling all of their shows (from both networks) except for X-Play and The Screen Savers. They then went and changed The Screen Savers, which was an awesome show about computers, and distorted it until Attack of the Show came out of what was left. AotS pales in comparison to TSS. And with X-Play, they used to have funny skits involving game characters, and they cut those out. Now they only do reviews.

The Screen Savers.

I think I’ve said enough. Actually, I guess bbob said much more, but still. I miss that show :frowning:

I’ll also take a few seconds to rage about Fox News.

RAGING RAGING RAGING RAGING
okay done. Now a fairer point–

I don’t mind that they have an agenda, but it pisses me off to no end that they espouse their particular agenda and pretend impartiality at the exact same time. It’s such utter bald-faced dishonesty and so ethically bankrupt to do this that it makes me more angry on that point alone than several hours of listening to the lunacy of O’Reilly or Beck ever could. Actually, I take that back. Those lunatics take the fucking cake, hands down.

The channel is neither fair, nor balanced, and I’d have a lot fewer problems with them if they’d simply own up to this. That is all I have to say on that.

Oh yeah, and this-- This made me so fucking mad to read I can’t even describe it. Fucking lunacy. The more I think on this, the more insane I find the whole damn thing.

To the original topic of this thread, I only have one word to say, and that word is–

Bullshit.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
