Your Top FIve Over-rated games

Do we really need a thread that would cause flaming and rage? You can’t really have a thread like this without two people arguing over a games suck/awesome factor. This doesn’t mean I don’t hate it’s just not exactly the best idea.

here’s my list:

  1. MOTHAFUCKING HALO
  2. Gears series.
  3. All the new nintendo games. sure they don’t have as much hype as Killzone and other poo, it still seems to lag behind low expectations.

dude every hardcore gamers hates fucking nintendo nowdays, you cant call it overrated ;f

It’s nearly always classified as overrated. MGS3 is one of the greatest games of all time you really should get round to playing it. MGS4 was a BIG dissapointment.

Though at the PS3 hating concept, I really don’t see the problem with PS3 exclusives. There’re are some who hate them because they’re exclusives. I know I few people who love CoD 4, but if it was a PS3 exclusive would hate it, say its overated ect.

I don’t say a game sucks or not until I finish it or get so bored that I don’t want to finish it. I’m just explaining my experience. An example of a ps3 exclusive that I actually liked is Resistance. I haven’t played Resistance 2 yet but I’m sure it is also awesome.

Hardcore gamers yes, but everyone else and their mom are like “holy shit, we can play a game, and stay active at the same time, buy everything they’ve got!”

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption was freakin’ amazing, I’m also going to give Super Mario Galaxy some credit, that game had some excellent play mechanics to it.

MGS3 wasn’t that good. Since when was MGS about eating frogs? The camouflage was kind of cool, but again, not MGS.

It was an all right game, but it wasn’t as good as the first two MGS’s, by far (I can’t speak for MGS4, as I haven’t played it yet).

5 - Crysis: Don’t get me wrong it’s a real good game, but we are talking about over rated games here and Crysis was getting scores from some publications between 98% to perfect scores. While I really enjoyed Crysis as a great game, it was not even nearing perfection. 98% implies only the smallest flaw possible in the game, and there was a couple notable flaws with the game.

4 - Word of Warcraft: While it is a very well designed game, and addictive as hell you gotta admit that this games popularity has gotten a little out of hand. Granted as a MMORPG it’s unmatched, but by now can we just get over ourselves and hope blizzard can make something new? Starcraft2 better be damned good, as I really think the WoW effect looks to have had a horrible impact on the style of DiabloIII development.

3 - The Sims: This game has always been a glorified version of those virtual pets that circulated as a fad some years back. I have no idea how this could be considered a worldwide sensation. Again I admit it is a bit of a cute idea, but it’s simply not that great of a game.

2 - Fallout 3: It may be more than just ‘Oblivion with guns’, but personally I found that a game I paid 50 bucks for and had totally exhausted most every aspect of the game as both good, and bad male and female characters in such a short period, then asked to pay 10 bucks for a half assed add on that was initially broken…game of the year? No damned way. Good, I’ll give it that. But I mean c’mon…the anticlimactic ending to the storyline was a perfect synopsis for the whole game. The giant unstoppable boss character at the end of the game was on your side? How is that a climax…sit and watch a robot kill people for you…how exciting.

1 - Halo Franchise: I’m sorry to offend any fans, but halo is a ‘meh’ fps at the best of times. Personally I think it’s popularity stems from people accepting lower quality first person shooters on consoles back in the day and now people are pissing themselves because there is the most minuscule improvement in each game. Innovative and groundbreaking it is not. It’s not up to the standard of most average FPS games we should be seeing now, and do see on the PC.

Those are my picks and my reasoning. Feel free to disagree, but you aren’t going to change my opinion of 'em.

Yes, but even then, Nintendo sucks more than that now.

OP, your most genious troll I’ve ever encountered in t3h internetz.
Cheers mate

EVERY SINGLE GODDAMN GAME IS OVERRATED.

Unlike your posts which are the very definition of poignant and thought provoking.

as a note to my post I thought about adding SPORE, but it wasn’t really over rated, but rather over hyped.

MaxtheLimit
I sense sarcasm. You hate me so much? why?

Give it a little bit more time for more third party mods mods to appear. Then it will rock, just like Oblivion. Maybe even more.

True, true. First Diablo III footage was the Letdown of The Year to me.

It’s not hate.
I was just letting my excess sarcasm escape onto the forums so that my brain doesn’t overload and give me a big pants wetting aneurysm.
The point I was nudging at was the inherent hypocrisy of trolling a thread to call someone a troll…no offense meant.
Another game I was wondering if I should add to my list is actually a series of games being the Guitar Hero/RockBand games… couldn’t they just all be one game really, and then sell accessories and new tracks? Isn’t something comparable on the internet for free? Is it not just a vastly more expensive version of timing flash games cluttering up the tubes?

oh, btw, nice to see back.

same shit.

But when a game needs mods to be good, doesn’t it mean it’s a bad game?

Neutrality FTW. I hadn’t played Fallout 1 or 2 or Oblivion before I played Fallout 3. So I have the most reliable opinion, mwuhahah.

Depends on how you look at it. those games were designed to be easy to mod.
Nearly every mod for Oblivion = New Game. Think of it. You can play such games for eternity.
Not that I’m a real fan of Bethesda RPGs, but when you realise… a game constantly developed by the community? Why not.
Kinda resembles what WEB 1.0 evolution into WEB 2.0.

it’s like humanity itself

I haven’t heard of this game, is it about spelling?
