Your top five favorite mods

Oh shit! NeoTokyo will be released July 3rd!
https://www.moddb.com/mods/neotokyo/news/nt-release-date-announced-details
Can’t wait!

  1. They Hunger
  2. The Specialists
  3. HL: Uplink Extended
  4. Gmod (technically a game now, but still.)
  5. Edge of Darkness (dreamt I was playing it last night :3)

Honorable mention goes to USS Darkstar, because it was good, just too dark (visibility-wise) and tedious.

Top 3 in-development mods:

  1. Black Mesa
  2. Half-life: Static friction
  3. Colony 42 (Hey, You gotta love your work, or there’s no sense making it!)

I’m thinking of downloading Heart of Darkness: Napalm Edition. If anyone has played the original, would you recommend it?

Yes, I recommended playing the original, even though the models look bad, it’s still fun and longer than Napalm Edition. Also, it works best with the WON version of half-life (It has fog in some places and some MP3s that can only be played in the WON version), and It’s called Heart of Evil, not Heart of Darkness.

My bad, I meant heart of EVIL.

EDIT: dl’d it, can only say WTF to coneheads, apes, and direct rip-offs of Apocolypse Now. Great mod though.

At the moment I am addicted to Smod tactical, but not with the defaults. I’ve got to console command the thing to hell before I play. I put on crosshairs and set the health regen rate up, tweak a bunch of other small things and then play it like smod redux bscly.

what Is fun is to set bullettimesim timescale to 1 and then play with all of the bullet time percs

I downloaded Paranoia, but when I try to play it, it tells me that Windows can’t find ‘hl.exe’ and that I should make sure I typed the right message. Is it possible that the Steam version of HL is incompatible with the mod?

Here’s the link:
https://www.moddb.com/mods/paranoia

No, actually I downloaded it and have been playing it on my steam version of Half-Life.

Be sure it installed correctly, with the “Paranoia” folder being in “\SteamApps<steam user>\Half-Life”

It’s a really good mod so far! I’ve encountered a crash though in an elevator soon after you first run into the zombies. Crashes every time soon after the level starts up.

Guess what I’m downloading!

11%, with an estimate end time of 54 minutes. :frowning:
Oh well, I guess I’ll pass time by looking up Zelda music remixes on YouTube. Those always do the trick.

Alright, got it running. It crashed after I heard my Comrade killed on the radio. Zombies, I guess.

Hey I remember following this mod’s developpement maybe a year ago. Back then they didn’t made anything but concept.

What, Paranoia?

Yup.

Bisounours Party is the best!

It’s the most polished goldsrc mod I’ve played so far, and I’ve played some good ones.

Just make sure you’re ready to read a lot of subtitles.

Oh man… thanks for showing this to me… downloading

Anyway, I can now add NeoTokyo to my list. Four down, now I just need one more awesome mod and I can now have a complete list of my favorite HL2 mods. I’m taking bets on what that next mod will be!

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
