Xbox One Discussion Thread

I wouldn’t mind racing against myself just for the novelty. I’d get it and do every race in reverse just to see what the AI does.

I actually thought it was pretty cool what Forza was doing with the cloud stuff. How the AI is pretty much actual people that’s recreated by the AI. Actually rendering things, as in graphics, by the cloud won’t work though, at least without massive amounts of lag.

So if my playstyle is taping the thumbstick at such an angle that my guy does donuts while I get up to walk the dog, will my ai clone be just as cool? Will games fuckin auto-pause if the kinect can’t see your face. That would be horrible

Always-online check and game sharing restrictions have been removed.

owned

but hey i respect microsoft a great deal for shaping itself up via criticism. Not like those bozos at electronic arts who ruined my dang space alien dating sim trilogy

Maybe they’re not a lost cause after-all

Hey, now there’s a change of pace. I guess they could tell which the wind was blowing or whatever the saying is…

Now the new fad is being angry because they removed the family sharing stuff.

I’m angry because they still require Kinect. Fuck them and theirs.

If they didn’t require it and just sold it separately then they could actually lower the price to a competing level.

damn, and i was getting used to machinima not being MS fanboys…it was nice while it lasted

console is still more expensive than ps4 and is less powerful (but includes a shit ton of shit no one gives a shit about)

guess its time to put up with another generation of companies selling out to M$

haha, that’s pretty fucking great. reminds me of a lot of mitt romney bumper stickers.

Maybe I should remove that tin-foil hat of mine, but to me it looks like they planned it all. They’d act as if they made the worst fucking console ever made, play it cool, let the bitching go on and on and suddenly, near the release just do a 180 and say stuff like “We listened to you. Customers are important and we love you all.” Then all the gamers feel important and they buy an Xbox-One.

I dunno, if that was their plan, they’d have to be banking on that outweighing how much they pissed people off…I think a lot of people will still see MS as a company that’s money-and-power-hungry because of their original plan and still refuse to buy it. IMO I think they genuinely screwed up and they realize they have to do this to try to swing some more sales back from PS4.

Of course this only takes into account all the people who care about video game news, there’s probably tons of people who don’t really care what’s going on and just want an Xbox so they can play the new Halo, and would have bought one either way.

Always online, used game restrictions, etc are all being removed via a patch. If they can patch it out, who’s to say they won’t patch it back in? Paranoid thinking, but it’s possible. I sure hope for their sake that they’ve learned from their mistakes.

Eh, they would’ve bought one regardless of if they did that or not. But they did that and they’ve probably lost some customers for good based on what they said. If this stuff was not existent in the reveal conference, I think there would be much more hype around the system than there is now, even though they got rid of (not all of) the bad stuff. I still think that this damaged their game-division’s reputation with the public.

Yeah, honestly, it’s quite obviously a huge screw-up. Damage control in terms of PR is what MS does best.

You say this because there aren’t any good games that have really utilized the Kinect to its full potential. This is because developers see no profit in spending their time making innovative features for the Kinect, and this is further because those who have gone out to purchase a Kinect are in the minority.

“But Winged,” you say. “Nobody is buying the Kinect because of the lack of games, not the other way around.” True, it’s a vicious cycle of sorts. However, the fact of the matter is that this cycle had to have started somewhere, and it is in the fact that publishers don’t really see a point in developing for a product that so few gamers own.

How can this be solved? How can the Kinect be made more appealing by making it an asset to own? By the creation of more games and/or apps that use it in an entertaining and/or useful way, and the only way to get devs to create such software is to assure that everyone they’ll be developing for owns a Kinect.

Trust me, requiring a Kinect to be included with every Xbox One will be the cause of a ton of new IPs that will fully utilize it. When technology becomes standard, so too will the software.
