Xbox One Discussion Thread

TW3 was somehow shown off at Microsoft’s press conference but the developers aren’t even able to play the game on the console in their country as the Xbone won’t be available in Poland at launch. Best thing is, CDPR hasn’t heard anything from Microsoft about any specifics of their DRM. Some of the stuff is still kind of vague.

maybe it’s sony sending out people with microsoft shirts

i mean, can they get any more conspicuous than that?

even microsoft doesnt like the windows 8/xbox one

So much fail :[

A lot of E3 demos usually run on PCs with the versions of the games they are making for console.

Hell, a console devkit that devs work with IS a PC, so it’s not really a big deal.

The Xbox one is most definitely not perfect, but the circlejerk against it is getting so strong that every single thing about it is being criticized.

Meh, at least its mostly deserved in this instance. In other cases, especially regarding certain musicians and movies, all the furor comes down to people outside the target audience loudly declaring that they don’t like so-and-so and that he/she/they/it sucks. Just a matter of idiotically ranting about stuff they were probably never intended to like.

With the Xbox though, it’s not that it’s serving up games that (some) people don’t want to play, it’s just not focused on games or gamers at all. It’s pretty much failing miserably at the one thing we really wanted it to do: play video games.

To me, it has few redeeming qualities. And I dunno…the whole webcam/mic always on and listening/watching creeps me out. Much of the features seem annoying.

think, the xbox one is built on [color=red]windows 8, yet the OS is obviously a windows 7

and the xbox one runs a mid-range AMD raedon GPU, yet the e3 gaming rig uses a high end Nvidia GTX 700

That’s how everyone does it though.

Its the same situation the PS3 was at when it first launch. Its a blatantly inferior console. More expensive and full of bullshit (ok so the PS3s probably was a relative lack of games but still). Also they came out and did something extremely anti-consumer and I’m always glad to see anti-consumer shit get destroyed.

The only way I can see it redeeming itself is if they are still working out deals for a subsidy from cable and internet providers.

I think it’s gonna have a very similar life as the ps3. It’s gonna start shit with only h4rdc04r fanboys keeping it afloat, then it’s gonna start stripping away the bullshit out of desperation and necessity while the game library grows and grows eventually making the console worth it to more and more people.

You know what annoys me? installing games on consoles

I just put my bro’s copy of GTA4 into my PS3 for the first time and I’m greeted with a 10 minute install screen, don’t people go to consoles to avoid doing tedious PC shit like installing games? I don’t care if the game runs faster if I install it, you shouldn’t have to do that, find another way to make the game load faster.

Why not just ditch the slow ass cd’s and package games on flash drives?

You want games to cost an extra $10+, just to avoid a one-time install? :stuck_out_tongue:

The Blu-Ray drive in the PS4 operates at 6x CAV (up to 27MB/s) rather than the 2x of the PS3 (up to 9MB/s), so it should allow for both faster installs and better streaming of games that might run off the disc.
You can play PS4 games as they are being installed to the hard drive, which should make game installs less annoying.

(haven’t heard anything about the Xbox One’s drive performance or playing games during install, only that you can play games without the disc in the drive once they are installed)

As long as you’re online

I honestly think this anti-Microsoft circlejerk is getting out of hand. Now it’s linking hands with the ultra-paranoia fashioned by Reddit to paint this picture of an NSA operative to each Kinect, as if gamers dancing around their living rooms in a doltish frenzy would actually garner the government’s attention.

My ex, who bases all of her opinions off of what Reddit tells her to believe, posted a picture on facebook equating the Xbone to 1984…she knows jackshit about gaming beyond WoW and LoL, let alone the Xbone or NSA surveillance yet she has the gall to make such a tenuous and ludicrous connection, as if her privacy is that important to her (surprise, she posts pics to r/gonewild). The following argument on her wall consisted of me trying to hold a reasonable debate while she recited baseless statements she probably did not understand herself native to the Reddit hivemind. She claimed that it would record everything all the time, and after I posted a link refuting that, she refused to read it because she didn’t like it because it would record everything all the time (read: she knew she was ignorant in this subject but did not want to admit it).

pc truly is the masterrace…

Apparently that Xbone demo unit was the only one running on PC since the developer didn’t have time to fully port the game to Xbone for E3.

Was the connection as follows:

Xbox One Kinect 2.0 = Always On Camera

Always On Camera connects to --> Microsoft

PRISM data list included Microsoft as main supplier of information

thusly, Kinect 2.0 = NSA window to your living room?

Because that’s actually pretty plausible. It’s basically the Wall TVs from Fahrenheit 451, except they supposedly play games.

That’s even remotely plausible! The amount of processing power required to extract any meaningful data whatsoever from hundreds of thousands of video feeds would be absolutely insane, and there’s very little they could actually glean from it. And in any case, that effort would be much better spent tapping communications and monitoring transactions.
