Windows 8

I never really thought of it that way, and it would be nice if that kind of super precise playing was phased out, but if theres anything Halo’s multiplayer taught me, it’s that anyone who plays anything long enough can get ridiculously good at it. Shifting games entirely to console might help eliminate twitch gaming, but I don’t see that kind of problem going completely away.

I was talking about botmatches in UT3 which are really fun, I’m not a fan of playing with no-lifuses who spend their time playing 24/7

Get your head fixed maybe?

Oh hey, another agitated kid.
Alrite, I get it, you’re one of those twitch gaming tards.

Ironic. Just keep the fuck away.

I know, I was just taking the quote out of context to make another point - that super accurate twitch gaming won’t go away as long as you play with humans, whether on PC or console. I do like me a game with good bots though. I had a lot of fun playing Jedi Outcast and Academy MP with maps full of bots. Makes me wish they’d make a true successor to the Jedi Knight series already.

Bumping ready for tomorrow, Windows 8 is being unveiled and chances are we get a developer preview/Beta build.

Anyone gonna be watching the keynote?

Calling anything on my computer an app, besides the applets, which are designed to be small things, is insulting. I have applications. And programs. My computer isn’t a phone. I really don’t need a bunch of dinky apps to make it easy to do things I already do easily, and/or don’t do at all.

Besides, windows 8 looks like it’s just a new version of Media Center, with touch technology shoved in there. Notice that when he went to “older windows apps”, it was Microsoft Office, and the screen had to revert to a Windows 7 layout? Yeah, he could switch to other applications from it, but he couldn’t switch the applications he was running inside the Windows 7 simulation thing. I’d just be happy sticking with Windows 7, thanks, rather than getting a whole new operating system just to have to swipe my way back into the old one.

You know what app is short for, right?

It’s just the hip lingo that Apple pushed.

I think the difference between application and app is that a fully-fledged, multipurpose tool would be an application, such as an office-suite or video editing software. App, being the shorter version of the word, is a mini-application that really does only one thing.

I for one am very happy with W7 x64 and won´t be changing until I´m forced to (like they did back in the day with 98 ad then XP), not because “I´m set on the old ways” but because if something works for me, why change it if the additives don´t catch my attention? Specially on my rig which has so much hardware and, “additives”, driver nightmare when changing OS basically

windows 7 is not even old, vista might be aging, but windows 7 will remain popular even if windows 8 is not bad not likely

'bout time, can I just buy that for a couple bucks?

there is no goddamn difference ffs
Why is that people are so eager in fist-fucking with their own brains?

And sure, I am watching a keynote

Also, whats not to like about this boot time

waaaaaaaaaah

Holy fuck.

I think it’s the machine doing most of the work. Look at the laptop specs. Also, I doubt that machine was loaded with programs that a typical home computer would be burdened with.

I’m not convinced.

no one is convinced and nobody fucking cares

It’s just sleep mode. Them be yankin’ your chain…

But the battery was out. How could it even have power?

Yeah, you see, uh…

I got nothing.

windows 7 has the same feature it’s called rapidboot AKA a built-in mini pci-e SSD boot drive

expect it to lose data and corrupt windows within 12-24 months
