What Game Did You Play Today?

Finished Emi’s story arc in Katawa Shojo. I find this game oddly fascinating. The writing manages to phase between hilarious and heartfelt very effectively.

Recorded some gameplay footage of that mod

^ That mod really needs ambient sounds. It’s so quiet.

I agree with that, the original 2 games actually made use of a lot of ambient sounds, and in the second game sometimes one of your marines would respond to the ambient sounds in the background with “What was that!?”

The map itself isn’t finished though, it’s kind of like a test map to let people try it out, possibly because there aren’t many people so I suppose in future releases it will look better/be more fleshed out in atmosphere (hopefully)

Edit: After playing it past where I died, there seems to be parts with better brushwork and more ambient noises, shame more if it isn’t like that though.

More Sonic Colors. I like the story- the writing is surprisingly funny. And that’s more than I can say for most Sonic games. I just wish they would port the game to Xbox 360, because using the control stick for the sideways dash is just awkward. On 360 for Generations the dash was mapped to LB and RB which felt a lot more natural.

AvP 99 to prep for A:CM. There’s just something about the aliens in this game that still manages to keep me on edge while I play. The sound effects are pretty true to the movies too, and the soundtrack is surprisingly alien-like and high quality too for the game being made in the late 90s

I got to the dragon in the Witcher 2. It’s a shame the game doesn’t play very well with ubersampling on, it’s so pretty. Even injecting smaa there’s still a lot of aliasing. I wonder how long it’ll be until ubersampling can be used at 60 fps.

At least you have the option. My computer is far too slow for AA.

SMAA has no performance penalty so use it if you want. But even with a 670, ubersampling brings my framerate all the way down to 15 fps at certain points.

Oh, really? That’s neat. I’ll have to see if I can turn it on in any of my games.

It’s an injector. Here’s the URL to download it.

There’s 3 or 4 files, just put them in the same folder as the .exe file. In the injector file change it to ultra. It’s pretty much fxaa but with less blur. It doesn’t work as good as normal aa but it’s good if you can’t use normal aa either for performance reasons or if a game doesn’t support it.

Oh, nice. Thanks!

Played a decent amount of Borderlands 2. It’s an awesome game.

I have been playing an unnerving amount of Katawa Shojo. Good on the people in this thread that were like “so many feels” and saying it was good. It’s certainly different than I was expecting. I can’t precisely put my finger on why I find this game so addictive. But somehow, inexplicably, it is, and I even stayed up till 4am to finish a story arc. Perhaps it’s the strong writing.

That’s what happened to me with Steins;Gate

Yesterday I finally finished Fallout 3 including all the DLCs. I completed all the quests I think, but I didn’t visit every locations, though. Now it’s time to install and mod New Vegas !

Played a tiny bit of Skyrim. I swear that injecting SMAA actually made it more pixelly, or at least more noticeable somehow.

^Yeah, it’s kind of hit or miss.

Finished TW2. That dragon boss was pretty difficult. It was the fire that was killing me every single time. I couldn’t find a way to dodge it. Also played some more Alan Wake. That game has mandatory aa but it doesn’t work very well. It’s got great atmosphere and Max Payne like narration though.

Sam Lake (writer of Max Payne) did the writing so that’s to be expected. I liked Alan Wake. Best collectors edition I’ve ever bought. (The 360 version with the hardbound book, OST and bonus content disc)

Played some Smash Brothers Brawl today, for the first time in a long time. I had forgotten how much fun that game is.
