He probably preordered it.
I’m probably gonna regret this, but I’m about to play…Duke Nukem Forever. I keep thinking back and wondering if it really was as bad as I thought it was when it came out.
I’ll probably post my feelings here later.
Good luck with that. I had one computer that FO3 worked perfectly fine with, but then another which the game would magically corrupt your saves after a half-hour of playing. Somehow, it persisted even after a clean install of an OS was put on the machine.
It’s been over a year since its release so “nearly two years” is technically correct, I think.
bought Faster than Light yesterday
it would appear that I suck mightily at this game, can’t even win on easy, every time I lose I say “fuck this I’m never playing this stupid game again!”
then a half hour later I’m playing the stupid game again
As I understand it, FTL is like Dwarf Fortress, or any rougelike for that matter; dying is part of the game and is to be expected.
Welp, played some DNF, this time on Let’s Rock instead of like my first playthrough on Come Get Some.
I don’t know if it’s because on a lower difficulty it’s less frustrating, the expanded inventory that takes away the dumb 2 weapon limit, or the fact that my expectations are lowered, but I am kinda having fun.
The driving and turret sections are still boring as fuck though.
Kingpin: Life of Crime
holy fuck, this game is hard
Dead space 1 and 2 the past couple days. I tell you what, DS 2 goes by really fast in comparison to DS 1.
I know. I’ve played it through nearly five times by now…
Me too. I like it better than the first. I’m not sure, it just feels better.
It makes sense. Sequels that are very similar to their original game are almost always significantly improved in terms of weapons, mechanics, UI, and the like. There’s just a lot of room for tweaks.
I watched my friend play Daggerfall the other day. I laughed so hard when he encountered a random naked woman just sitting alone in a completely bare room in an inn. Totally unexpected.
Originally they were going to be a faction of prostitutes. Also, there was a cut cinematic for having sex with people you met.
FUCKING X COM WHY THE FUCK DID YOUR UPDATE TO FIX THE TELEPORTATION BUG SUDDENLY RESULT IN THE TELEPORTATION BUG HAPPENING ON MY MACHINE?!? Seriously, WHAT THE FUCK. THIS IS NOT WHAT I WANT ON A CLASSIC MODE PLAYTHROUGH, GODDAMNIT!!! [/RAGE]
I think you blew a vein in the process :hmph:
It came out in November 2011… so it’s been out about 14 months. That’s like saying that 12 years old is “nearly [US] drinking age.”
I finished Oblivion’s main quest the other day. “Oh no; Mehrunes Dagon has arrived! We’re too late!”
And then Mehrunes Dagon just sort of… stood there.
The Elder Scrolls games have a lot of excellent backstory events and shit, but when it comes to actual gameplay events, they’re notorious for often being underwhelming in that respect.
Oh god, you just reminded me of the underwhelming battle in front of the Oblivion gate in Oblivion.
It was like, barely anything, and all the NPCs acted like it was a full on war.
On the topic of TES, I really want to beat Daggerfall, since everyone I’ve asked whose beat it seems to say the main quest is the most fleshed out of the series, but I’ve put it off because the last character I had where I was a decent way into it, I forgot to back up and got lost when I was deleting random stuff a while back.
I think the Morrowind quest is pretty epic.
Skyrim was also pretty lacking in epic battles. I guess the engine just isn’t that good at handling lots of NPCs at once.
