What Game Did You Play Today?

I’ve reached Bowser’s Keep in Super Mario RPG. Didn’t expect to get to this point so soon as I haven’t been putting a whole lot of time into this game. It’s definitely a whole lot shorter than other turn based RPG’s I’ve been through. Course, this is only the third game I’ve played with a turn based battle system. The first being Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga, and that is comparatively longer than this experience.

It’s a fun romp, and to be honest, I’m kinda glad this is all this world has to offer, because I’m still not a huge fan of the isometric perspective, and dated prerendered environments.

A shoutout needs to be made out to Booster, however, because he is indeed an awesome character.

I thought the same of it. It gets better later on.

That’s the thing. It became too laborious.
I wanted to get a bunch of ships out there quick.

Warframe’s servers have been acting up a lot today. The forums are down, too.

More homeworld, on mission 10 now, which gives you a decent chance to build up which is a nice change of pace from the missions where your enemies don’t let up

Probably should bring something other than fighter-class ships to fight a group of anti-fighter frigates

All you need is the SSV Normandy SR-2… I’m tellin’ ya…

Bad joke’s still a joke, right?

Played the EYE Divine Cybermancy demo. Very very weird but looks like it combines a bunch of different mechanics from existing games. You’re just tossed into the world too it seems with little explanation.

I have the full version of that game. The translation is a bit dodgy but it’s a very interesting game. Potentially very difficult too, depending on how you spec your character.

Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven.

Even then its graphics were outdated and the gameplay has many flaws, but damn this game is good.

Wow, that came out after daggerfall? Almost looks like it was before.

I like the way it looks though. Also, some of those portraits in the preview shots seem to be variations of what was in Heroes of might and magic 2

It’s not very clear on the GoG page, but some screenshots are from different games than MM6. 2,3,5, 7, 8 and 12, actually. I think some on the portraits from MM4 and MM5 were used in HoMM2, but MM6 was made at the same time as HoMM3. There are references to each-other in game too, mainly in the story. Also yeah, I’ve never played Daggerfall, but from the looks of it Daggerfall had 3d models and proper lighting. MM6 is mostly sprite-based.

I’m pretty sure that Daggerfall was mostly sprites, at least for characters.

Daggerfall’s enemies and NPCs were all sprites, but it did have 3D models for some things such as rocks, bridges and wheelbarrows, etc.

It did have a true 3D engine so it had real mouselook and actual 3D level geometry though.

I played a bit of AoE2 HD today. It seems the AI has been toned down a bit, which I’m grateful for. I used to be only able to play on Easiest, which was quite do-able, but still somewhat of a challenge. Now it’s zero challenge. In the past, I couldn’t even play standard because the ramp up in difficulty from Easiest was stupidly steep and so I couldn’t really work my way up. I will have to give it a try again.

Finally starting my next playthrough of Mass Effect 2. The game still holds up graphically, even better than ME3 in some cases.

Managed to move up a rank in Warframe today. Second time that I have done so. Also managed to score the Dark Sword blueprints from an alert mission.

Kaweebo, import or not?

Yes, import. I was running a playthrough of ME1 a couple weeks ago with the same character. Even if I didn’t import, though, I bought that DLC where you get a comic introduction and can make choices before the game starts.

Comic DLC… right…

Is there a list of worthy DLCs buying which I can stick within 2400 points?

I got the trilogy in the sale, and kinda don’t want much stuff left out when I dive right back in during the summer holidays, which is also when I might have a chance to spend some CZK’s.

Worthwhile DLC for ME as follows:

Mass Effect 1- Bring Down The Sky. Terminus Station is fuck awful and boring.
Mass Effect 2- All of the major mission packs are fun (from Zaeed to Arrival). The comic DLC is only needed to cover the story of ME1 if you haven’t played it on PS3. Since you have the trilogy this is a non-issue.
Mass Effect 3- I’ve heard the Citadel is a great DLC mission with tons of funny stuff. I still haven’t finished ME3 so I can’t really offer opinions on the rest.
