What Game Did You Play Today?

I miss that damn game

Friend of mine wanted to see a bunch of older games so I was showing him Quake, Brutal Doom, Hexen 2, and Descent 1 and 2.

He liked Descent and Hexen 2 the most because of the unconventional and powerful weaponry, and Descent also for the fact that he seemed fascinated by the idea of a 6DOF shooter, but Brutal Doom as well for the gore.

He only seemed to like Quake after I showed it to him with all the GFX mods enabled though, which I found strange because he didn’t seem to have a problem with the other games graphics.

I finally finished TES:Arena. God damn was it painful.

Now it’s time to get on with Daggerfall, which I’ve been looking forward to, as it’s supposedly a lot better.

Question is, should I play with DaggerXL the first time around, or would that remove the “authenticity”?

DaggerXL isn’t ready to be used for full playthroughs just yet, though it does have options to make it emulate the look of the DOS version.

Just google and download Daggerfallsetup.exe if you haven’t already, that’ll give you all the official and unofficial patches and fixes and makes the game 100x more stable.

Played some Team Fortress 2. I had a lot of fun playing soldier and demoman, as usual, but I had the most fun by far getting into a duel with someone else, which I won mostly by using a stick grenade as a club.

TF2, for some odd reason, I just realized I’m actually good with the Huntsman
also, Assassin’s Creed 3

It was a good game. It did end up being much better overall than Enter the Matrix, though the voice acting could have been a bit more consistent. I can understand why it wasn’t however.

A friend of mine got his hands on a WiiU, day 1. So we were having a blast playing NintendoLand. For some reason, it’s not quite as lame as it looked like when initially showcased at E3.

I also recently bought MegaMan X8 for PS2. The voice acting is…surprisingly good for a MegaMan game. In fact X isn’t as wimpy sounding as he was in prior games, and Axl is far less annoying this time around. Haven’t played it for very long as I’ve been playing Minecraft quite a bit lately. I have the layout of Wolfenstein half way done. I plan on make a duplicate floor on top to act as a mob spawner for those who dare trek through the dungeon’s halls.

:brow:

Err do you mean it’s NOT as lame as it looked?

Because it certainly did look lame…

Yeah, that “not” was supposed to be in there. Fixed. It’s hard to catch those little mistakes when making posts on my smartphone. Such a tiny screen…

The WiiU however is indeed worth giving a shot. Those minigames might actually surprise you, as they did to me. Especially coming into it with low expectations, I was certainly more than satisfied with my experience.

Some Oblivion (becoming more and more modded all the time), and some L4D2.

trying to play TF2, damn vaildating problem crap

Call me intrigued.

You mean where it has to validate your files every time it boots up? I had that problem and fixed it by just reinstalling the game.

I played some more dwarf fortress today. I got a little bit greedy mining out an adamantine spire, unfortunately, and punctured into the center. I managed to get the tunnels sealed off in time, but there were a lot of deaths. I don’t remember the unit count before the incident, but I’m estimating at least 70 dead, which is more than a third of the fortress.

Edit: Also, our magma forges and metal stockpiles are now functionally inaccessible. I hope I have enough weapons in the stockpiles to equip my military.

Alice: Madness Return.

I really like this game. The art direction is beautiful, the gameplay is quite good, story’s nice. It feels like a console port, but a good one. Really, it is a proper good game.

Restarting Fallout New Vegas, this time fully patched with all add-ons. Hurray! Hoping Fallout 4 will be this gen and on the skyrim engine.

I’m about to try and reclaim my metal stockpiles and magma forges from the demons that have claimed them after I got greedy and dug too deeply into one of the adamantine spires that guard the entrances to the underworld.

I have a semi-complicated plan in mind that may or may not work. If my suspicions are correct, demons won’t attack undead. If I’m wrong, the vampire will probably just die before he manages to finish the wall, and I’ll have to try something else entirely. Maybe I can pump magma into the underground lake and just seal the chokepoint with volcanic glass.

I love Dwarf Fortress.

Oblivion + Deadly Reflex. Pretty fuckin’ sweet.

GTA IV

Diablo 2

Just killed Diablo, the fucker dropped me NOTHING USEFUL GNNHHFFFF

Hexen 2. God I fucking love the Assassin’s final weapon when you use the tome of power with it.
