What Game Did You Play Today?

Original

It’s the worst at the beginning because it’s like playing Morrowind - your rolls aren’t for damage, they’re to see if you actually get to hit something. Very frustrating RPG system, glad it’s outdated now. Once you level up your combat skills and get some decent augs the game will be much more enjoyable. Till then you just gotta stick it out with your gun you can’t aim and your prod that takes all your charges to knock someone out.

I just got a baton, hits from behind with it are instant KO’s. The games excellent, but yeah, the level up system was a bit rubbish. And some weapons as well (like the prod).

It’s only a bad game in the beginning if you haven’t figured out how to play it yet. The first level is one of the best if you have beet the game and understand the mechanics of it. I can sneak through the first level without a single person spotting me. I can run through the first level without a single person being able to shoot me, or talk to me for that matter. I can pick off every single enemy with my pistol if I really care to.

And I never use the stun gun, or pepper spray, or that experimental one-shot-kill pistol that sucks.

Non-lethal is only talked about in the first couple of levels, so if you don’t really care about that, feel free to kill everyone after you leave Laguardia airport.

You just got on someone’s list, I think.

Stick with the prod.
Prod with the prod.
Just in case though, we’re police.

I don’t go lethal till Hong Kong. Cause that where you get that sword I love so much. And screw the prod, it’s beyond useless. And I agree with TGP, the first levels fun if you gotta feel for the game. I enjoy playing it, I don’t think there’s a level I hate in that game.

I’m trying to do a completely non-lethal playthrough though, and I’m extremely used to Thief’s knockout system, where you just bash them in the back and they go down

My least favorite level is the underwater sub base. I can’t stand the karkians down there. They really piss me off. I also always run from Simons down there (you get a funny line of dialogue at Area 51 from JC if you do that  ).

My favorite levels are Versalife in Hong Kong, Oh crap, I can’t remember the name of the level where you land on the roof in the helicopter and there are two huge military bots and two smaller military bots stalking about with a bunch of MJ12 around, and the guy from the armory is there when Page lets them know about the nuke on its way to destroy you. I love that level.

I really have to play Deus Ex again. Last time I played it (for the first time) I was having a blast until I got to that base before hong kong and got lost.

when i tried 2 replay it omn the steam version it kept fuckin up and like not triggering stuff that needed to happen for the game to work. idk if i tried to install some dumb mod tho. either way play euro truck sim 2 instead

Totally forgot about the sub base…fucking karkians Dx
I think the level you’re referring to is either the military base where you go aboard the ship OR somewhere around there… I can’t remember either, it’s been awhile since I played it.

I played through most of Deus Ex and didn’t care for it.

Finally beat the Fury today in MGS3, nonlethally. I’m on the Shagohog chase now. Have killed all the bosses nonlethally right now and tried to avoid killing people period. How do you do that chase nonlethally though? There’s a bunch of guards shooting at you and you have an AK-47. I had the same problem in MGS2, with the sword part, where it felt there was no way to do it nonlethally.

In MGS2, you can switch your sword’s grip to LTL mode (Raiden strikes with the blunt end of the sword instead of the cutting edge). Managed to no kill complete the game there.

Also did this with MGS3 on my most recent playthrough. All weapons have unlimited ammunition during the chase, so you can spam hush puppy shots to your heart’s content.

I think shooting explosive barrels, and the barrels killing enemies, don’t count against the kill count, but don’t quote me on that. I’m not sure.

Wow, didn’t know you could turn the sword around in MGS2. What button do you press for that? And cool, I’ll try using the tranq gun. I’m mad I killed some people accidentally during my playthrough. One time I knocked someone out and meant to take the tranq gun out to put him to sleep because it lasts longer but pulled out the regular gun and killed him. Another time I put TNT in a food shed to blow it up and ended up killing a few people that way. Also the couple people I killed at the beginning while getting used to the CQC controls. I called in a helicopter strike on the mountain too, not sure if that counts as kills for me though. I think my kill count is under or around 10 though still.

It’s after scuttling the ship. It’s just before redirecting the nuke and the endgame. You meet Tong just before taking off to redirect the missile. I think it’s another Versalife level, but it has been way too many years since I played to remember fully.

If I have a save file in that section I’ll double check, but I believe you press Square in the inventory menu to flip the blade. The readout in the inventory should tell you what you need to do. Also, it has little visual impact on how your sword does against enemies. It’s just as powerful, but it damages to stamina instead of health, so if there’s arterial spray going everywhere you’re doing something wrong. The icon should turn BLUE when you flip the blade to the blunt edge, signifying the LTL weapon mode.

I wonder if I have a save from before the sword part so I don’t have to play the game again to try that.

I’ve been playing Butcher Bay for the past couple days. I always thought it was a stealth game but it’s pretty similar to Doom 3, but without monsters, and some stealth every once in a while.

Ahh I remember know. Ok. Yeah, that parts pretty damn fun. And the shipyard, Area 51, versalife, and the first few levels are fantastic. But the games not for everyone, just as any other game.

Found my 007: Nightfire discs and managed to get the game running again. Good times…
