What Game Did You Play Today?

I’ve only ever played the original Deus Ex once and the beginning frustrated me, so it was probably just because I wasn’t familiar with the game at first.

I usually prefer non-lethal in stealth games but the Dragon Sword is just too much fun. It’s not really treated as such but I always viewed it as a Lethal Joke Item - its a big glowing sword and it makes a clacking sound when you hit someone, like you were smacking them with a stick or something. And yet with a reasonable melee skill level it kills even Simons in 1-2 hits.

Also played some AoE2 HD with my friend yesterday. There’s some pretty darn nice texture mods for it now, it actually looks more HD now. I suck bad at it though, I don’t really have a head for micro-managing.

Definitely not. It has a steep learning curve, odd mechanics, and different AI. I don’t fault people for not liking it, I just try to make them see that a lot of them didn’t give it a fair shake after playing the first level and not “getting it”.

Beat MGS3. Final kill count was 5, all of which were accidental during the game. Got the komodo dragon rating.

I remember turning it on for the first time, playing training, and hating it. Clumsy controls, weird atmosphere, i just couldn’t get it. Then like a year later, while digging though a box of useless stuff, I found it and gave it another shot. Though that time, I began to enjoy it. Now it’s one of those games I play that I just can’t get enough of, like Unreal/Return To Na Pali, Half Life 1, Op4, Half Life 2 and episodes, and FO 3/NV. And the Mass Effect series

Edit: And Doom 3 plus expansions.

Finished Hydrophobia: Prophecy on my new computer. My beastly new rig effortlessly maxed the game out, allowing me to play the game properly. (Older machine could barely handle the standard gameplay. I shudder to think what would have happened to the framerate during the sequence with the “water powers…”

Also been playing the original F.E.A.R. and Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY. The new rig currently can’t connect to the internet to allow Steam to work, so I’ve mostly been limited to disc based games on it. (Arkham is on PS3, so this doesn’t apply.) Gonna try to get BioShock Infinite to work on it even without the internet, but I’ll probably have to recopy a ton of data to do it.

Modded-up Skyrim. I haven’t done either of the quest DLCs. I’m trying to make my way to Fort Dawnguard, but I keep getting sidetracked.

Also, Skyrim Redone is an awesome mod. I can actually play as an archer. Try doing that in vanilla Skyrim.

I already did? Unless you were expecting to OHK everything, the archery in vanilla Skyrim is pretty good, way better than Morrowind or Oblivion.

Some Hexen 2

Why did the boulder explode into blood?

Incidentally, Bloodshot, do you have links for all those mods you use for Unreal? I’m thinking of playing it again.

Look again, that’s a sheep.

I can dig up the links

First, you need the 227 patch, if you haven’t already download whichever is for your version:

Then, get this for the enhanced particle effects

And this for the blood effects

They are mutators so you have to put them in the mutator list before you start the game

Do NOT use the 22i HD mutator, use HD weapons or whatever the other one is called.

Pardon my ignorance, but would these mods work with Unreal Gold?

I think that 227 is the version steam has? Not sure though.

I doubt it, 227 is an unofficial patch that was made because epic gave some fans the source code to the game.

There’s a 227 patch for Unreal Gold on the site as well, so yes.

Sweet, some mods would spice things up.

I’m about halfway through Escape from Butcher Bay. I also finished the first act of MGS4 on hard with no kills.

Currently playing Dungeon Siege III.
This isn’t dungeon siege, this is some kind of hell spawned abomination. The reason I own it is because I love the prequels in the series. So when the game was on steam’s summer sale last year I bought it since you got the first 2 games in the bargain. Playing it now since I’ve got a really big backlog of games in my steam list that I haven’t played.

First off: it’s not developed by the original developers(gas powered games) but by Obsidian Entertainment, whom did a good job with FO:NV, I’ll give them that. This has transformed it into some kind of bad console port.

Second off: You don’t create your own hero, instead you choose between 4 predetermined finished heroes with they own playstyle. No archer mages to be seen here.

Third off: Apparently you have the transmute power from the start no matter what hero you choose. And you can also enchant your own items, which you needed to find an enchanter for in the previous games.

Fourth off: All equipment looks the same, just with different qualities. You can’t customize the look of your character whatsoever. Then there’s this weird thing that all characters can’t equipped every items. For some reason the one I chose can’t wear gloves… Seriously?

I guess this is how the Fallout fanbase felt when Fallout 3 was released.

The game may be all right on its own, but it isn’t Dungeon siege. The only thing that connect this game to the prequels is the lore.

Haha wow my dad just got that and all he could talk about yesterday was how terrible it was

World of Warcraft… Turns out I’m actually a pretty good tank!

I beat Butcher Bay today. Also got to the mansion holding Naomi in MGS4. I either never noticed before or you can progress without doing it but I aided the rebels in taking over the power plant at Virtuous Vista (replaying the levels that were used for MGO is pretty cool) and that made them friendly to me. So I only had to worry about the PMC troops. I also realized that the radar shows how much I’m exposed.

About to start Pathologic, some Russian survival horror game that looks pretty cool.

Finally opened up the last island in GTAIV.
