What Game Did You Play Today?

Battlefield 3.

Today I had the most fun I have ever had in that game. Ever.

I joined the server and we had all the objectives taken for a few minutes, but then in a matter of seconds the other team somehow got together and took all objectives right under our noses. So we had to slowly fight our way back from spawn to the other side of the map while taking the objectives along the way. And we won somehow. Plus I was able to get a full promotion in that one round, from 0% to 100%. It was awesome!

That is like the dream play of a game like that. Anytime I play anything like Battlefield, I want it to be that way.

Played FONV, new play through with hardcore.

Whoa, that’s some seriously nice new model and texture work. Wish something could be done about the shadows, though.

How does Cloud look during his brief crossdressing experiment?

I played Deus Ex: GOTY Edition after I got it on steam. Anyone know how to keep it from changing my brightness to max?

Cool, sounds good. One thing though, what is this about having a volume labeled FF7DISC1? Does it install to that location or is it just using it temporarily? That is, can I just use a USB stick temporarily or should I make a partition on my hard drive?

Bought the Gods and Kings expansion for CivV and started a new game as Ethiopia. I really like the religion mechanic. I remember something similar on Civ Revolution for the PS3 and apparently spies were brought back as well but I haven’t seen anything about that yet.

^I don’t think that really applies since Infinite wasn’t a landmark of the genre and/or didn’t really do anything new. The hype thing is true, but not because it did anything especially innovative or original.

Heh, the one I have was one I made from a project I was working on with a couple other people to port models from existing games and make them work with FF7, it’s pretty :fffuuu: looking. I’ll see if I could find a pic of it.

EDIT: Oh god, I found it

It’s a CD volume name, so I’m pretty sure you could just rename your USB to FF7DISC1. I recall the original game actually stops and asks you to put in the CD when you plug in a USB drive while playing so it kinda makes sense.

Played Gunman Chronicles for the first time in the past… 7 years I think. Despite being incredibly corny, it’s so fun…I wonder if there is a source remake, like BM, in progress or done for it. Anyone know?

I decided against modding FF7, at least for the time being. I have no real problem with the old graphics and I would like to play it through at least once as it originally was. Plus, after looking into the available mods, I found I rather dislike their fragmented, incomplete nature. Certain things have been updated but others are left undone, like enemy models. There’s also like 20 Cloud models to choose from, most of which look decent, but there’s only like 3 for each of the females, and the “HD” ones look terrible. They don’t even look like the characters, its like they were made by Fakefactory or something. Anyways I’ll probably just wait for an anniversary edition or HD remake or whatever, that way everything will have a nice, high res, unified look, and maybe even complete voice acting. There’s just not enough talent and interest in modding the game to really get a decent complete fan-made overhaul done. I’ll enjoy the nostalgia of the retro graphics until then.

Those were pretty much my thoughts before too, I only ever used to get the “NPC reconstruction project” for running around on the field/in cutscenes because they were made directly from the models you see in battle so they fit well, and most of the NPCs were done. Now though, thanks to that other project I worked on I have access to a ton of NPC and enemy models so they are pretty much all updated for the most part so stuff doesn’t look out of place.

If you wanted the pack I could always upload it, although It’d probably be better if you play through with the original models for your first playthrough. Still though, there are some mods like the one that updates the battle models that fit right in with the game, since some of them are made from better models that were in the game but not used/only used once or twice.

Heh, don’t hold your breath -

because then you’d die.

I’d suggest getting a music replacement at least because the steam version music is NOT the original. It’s really bad MIDI versions

I think I should buy secret of the magic crystals…I have this nagging feeling…hm…

Yeah, I know, but things like Halo Anniversary and Black Mesa have given me foolish amounts of hope for such a thing :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyhow I didn’t know that about the music, I kind of had a feeling the boss battle theme was off but some of the other pieces sounded good to me so I wasn’t sure. I guess that should be simple enough to mod in.

If I feel like modding after my first playthrough I might hit you up for that pack.

Some of the midi ones aren’t bad but some of the instruments in the tunes really suffer, like the ones with guitars.

I wouldn’t expect a remake mostly because SE has been pretty vocally opposed to one in the past, though that doesn’t stop them from getting their new team to milk the blind fanboys for all it’s worth with really bad cash-in products that screw with what was supposed to be a self-contained game. Also if there’s one reason I’d be opposed to it, it’s because I KNOW Square-Enix would obviously put voice acting in the remake - but they generally have terrible direction, even though sometimes they get decent actors, so it adds a level of cheese that I just can’t deal with.

Are you kidding? There’s a bunch of cheesy dialog in the game as it is, so honestly it could fit. And who could forget that parade scene… and the crossdressing…

I really need to buckle down and finish this game.

Oh I didn’t mean to imply that there wasn’t any cheese in the game, but SE’s cheese provided by their direction and VA’s is like, on a whole other level compared to how I imagined shit from reading it in my head.

Plus, they would probably use the voice actors from the really bad movie, and a lot of them were borderline annoying more then anything else.

You’re playing Skyrim on a console and you biggest complaint is that you have to use a controller? Not the lack of mods?

I actually played Alice with kb+m and didn’t have an issue.

Edit: I beat the Fear and the End in MGS3 today. I’m stuck on the Fury, and have been stuck on him all day. I can usually get him down to just a couple of hits left but then I always get caught in his fire and die. I’m trying to beat him nonlethally, like I did with all the other bosses so far, and it seems a lot harder.

I’m super late to the party but I’ve finally started playing Fallout 3 with some mods. I really like it - even made a couple of mods myself(my first retexture is currently in the hot files of the FO3 Nexus :stuck_out_tongue: ). My diner-styled house is comfy. It’s a good break from all the Skyrim modding, for sure.

I’m trying to figure out whether I should go for a fully saintly character, or try to actually roleplay it. I may end up being a wuss and just choosing the goody dialogues though :frowning:
