What Game Did You Play Today?

I liked rage. The story was lacking, in my opinion, as well as the fact that the game takes probably 8-10 hours to complete for me. But the graphics and physics and such were great. The game just wasn’t what I expected really, and I thought it’d be a fallout kinda game and such.

Hah, no shit.

Try Dwarf Fortress. Pausing time to issue orders is basically essential for fortress mode, and adventure mode is basically the ultimate roguelike. Every step you take counts as a turn.

Fallout with vehicles? Shit, I’m sold. I’ve been wanting that kinda game for a while.

Edit: double post, whoops.

I row beneath the Black Flag.

Got my hands on Queen Anne’s Revenge, and…

BLACKBEARD, UPGRADE YOUR SHIP. Jackdaw is TEN times more lethal, it eats Man o’ Wars for breakfast… Queen Anne’s Revenge has trouble againist it.

I’ve tried Dwarf Fortress many times, only ever the fortress mode though, and just couldn’t figure out what to do really. I even played along with the startup guide. I know you’re just supposed to maintain your fortress, but for some reasons the dwarves wouldn’t do what I wanted them to and other things I guess.

Rage isn’t anything like Fallout. It isn’t an open world game. It does kind of give the appearance of one but it’s linear. And I really didn’t like the vehicle stuff. I think the game should have been all shooting because that was good but they forced the vehicles on you way too much in my opinion.

This mod for Duke3D

Shit that was cool

Minecraft on the Seriously! (serious sam forums) server.

I finished FEAR: Perseus Mandate and it was just weird.

[COLOR=’#151515’]There didn’t seem to be any kind of resolution or anything. You stop the bad guy from stealing Alma’s DNA. You pick up the DNA and meet up with your one partner and, with him, you shoot your way to a helicopter. Boarding the helicopter causes you to see a ghost of your other partner who was dead. Roll credits. Then Fettel says during the black screen after the credits, “No one touches the Source but me,” then fade into the Senator and one of the soldiers delivers another bottle containing the DNA of Paxton Fettel to the Senator. Back to the title screen. WTF?!

I imagine that it was setting up for another game but then FEAR 2 happened, which just ignored the expansions and continued off the first game.

I got to level 5 or something in Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup. I’m a gargoyle fighter with a flaming sword.

World of Tanks

The 2012 version of Need for Speed Most Wanted. It has many shortcomings compared to the original, but it’s still decent fun.

Plus, no Josie Maran.

The fact that it’s lacking a cheesy storyline is its main flaw. (though the worst offender may be the police - it feels like it was just tacked on after they finished the main game).

Scribblenauts Unlimited.

Finished Rage, back to Dishonored. I’m really trying not to kill any of these assholes, but if they stick their swords in my bidniss and I can’t blink away somewhere safe and wait it out, I sort of have to lop their damned heads off. I wish there were a few more nonlethal options besides the sleep darts and sleeper hold. I would really dig a gas grenade, for example.

Bought a PS Vita today and had some fun playing Uncharted Golden Abyss and Gran Turismo PSP.

I wish the Vita memory cards weren’t so damn expensive because the 8GB card that came with the Vita is clearly not enough.

Yeah, I really wished there were more fun non-lethal things as well. TBH the only ‘active’ powers I liked were Blink and Dark Vision. Bend Time I wasn’t huge on, Possession was okay but I never felt compelled to use it much and then obviously rat swarm and wind blast are aggressive powers (I like windblast but holy hell it takes a lot of mana).

The game just didnt feel as fun going purely non-lethal. I really do want to get that achievement where you’re never ever detected. Might force me to actually use the other powers.

Can’t you use bend time to pause time, shoot crossbow bolts at everyone, then unpause and watch everyone die at once?

Yep. I’ve frozen time and took a guard who was having a conversation with another guard. When time unfroze the other guard was talking to nobody. Unfortunately the AI wasn’t programmed to deal with that so he just stood there.

I am really loving Death to Spies. Shame the third game got canceled. I think there’s a chance it still might come out but it isn’t certain. We really need more stealth games. Dishonored was fun but it didn’t give me the same feeling as games like Hitman, Splinter Cell, Thief, etc. It more made me happy with its freedom of movement than its stealth.

Alright, so I’m not exactly huge into JRPGs but now that I’ve got a Vita, it’d probably be a good idea to get a few of those in there, as I’m aware that the PSP and Vita have quite a few good JRPGs in their library.

What would be a good starting point for a “noob” like me?
