Yes, you are the only one who enjoyed that game. The game is completely non-horrifying since it’s built around co-op shooting. The plot was only marginally more coherent than Battlefield 3’s single player. Just awful awful awful on the whole.
I liked that room cause it was all timing and stealth.
It’s just annoying your only option basically was to sneak from behind. Because even if you like dive kicked from the ceiling, the guys from all the way across the room would see/hear it and shoot.
Just got to the bit where I need to follow the wardens blood trail. The scarecrow bits are really good. Simple for the most part, and just about timing , but I really liked them. Especially the flashback to his parents murder. Amazing. Hallucination scenes in games generally tend to be top notch stuff.
F3AR becomes a little better if played co-op with a friend but it’s still pretty weak. What is Monolith up to these days? They made Gotham Impostors but haven’t heard from them since.
They haven’t released anything since Guardians of Middle Earth, as far as I know.
(I’m hoping that they’re making Shogo 2 )
Oh nice, had no idea they made Guardians of Middle Earth. That actually makes me want to check it out.
edit: oh it’s a moba style game, I don’t like that genre. In fact I was confusing it with War in the North, which an action-rpg type with co-op.
Aren’t most of the classic monolith devs who made Blood/Shogo/NOLF/FEAR working on that black and white game?
EDIT:
Betrayer it’s called
Also I still fucking want a new NOLF
Beat BF4’s campaign. Decent. We really need a good game that isn’t a giant script-fest.
Playing through FEAR: Extraction Point. Just finished with the subway area. Pretty decent so far. By the way, still hate the Heavy Armors.
FEAR 2.
Honestly, this game is pretty good. Satisfying combat, but with some good horror parts as well. I just played through a section where the lights were only flickering on for a split-second every few seconds, there were crazy ghost things attacking me, and every other time Alma appears right in front of you. Very panic-inducing. The first FEAR must have been amazing if this game isn’t as good.
However, having never played the first game, I’m a bit confused. What caused that huge explosion? What’s Alma’s purpose, beyond just being scary? And why do early 2000’s games always insist on putting big glowing HUD boxes around every single pickup?
Can’t answer the question about the explosion without revealing the plot of FEAR 1. I suggest you stop playing FEAR 2 until you can beat FEAR 1 because you’re missing major parts of the story.
FEAR 2 came out in 2009. And I really hate its hud. It’s a lot more intrusive than the first game’s. And yeah, play the first game, it’ll explain the stuff you’re not getting.
Right, guess I’m gonna buy FEAR then. Unless anyone has an extra copy or something?
Plus in FEAR 1 you can opt to avoid guns and bashing and punch people in the face instead.
FEAR 2 had this too but only on certain occasions, unless there is a holster weapon button I’m unaware of.
Also what the fuck now I keep seeing people playing FEAR everywhere, even on different forums.
FEAR 2 and 3 were included in the most recent Humble Bundle.
Edit: Does anyone know if I can pick up the first FEAR for cheap somewhere?
Strange that FEAR 1 wasn’t included
On topic, played up to Questionable Ethics in Black Mesa, man OaR uncut really makes the game feel a lot longer - and also played, you guessed it, FEAR 1.
Soon I’ll be reinstalling FEAR 2.
Also, would anybody want to get FEAR Combat and play some FEAR MP, since it’s free? I remember having a hell of a lot of fun playing it way back, and if we got enough people it could be a blast.
Don’t buy FEAR 1 yet, Pyro.
Apparently they’re gonna add a few more games to the bundle, including FEAR 1.
Oh, awesome. And you can pick those up if you’ve already bought?
Come to think of it, I might have some games I’ve not redeemed from previous bundles.
Yeah, they get added to the library.
Indeed, it would seem that I actually have a copy of Red Alert 3 lying in my inbox.
Beat “Extraction Point”. Boy, that was a depressing ending.
“Perseus Mandate” is leaving me confused, at least at the beginning. Are you the same character you were at the end of “Extraction Point” or is this a new character? You still have the same slo-mo which leads me to believe you’re controlling the same character, but there is no connection between the end of EP and the beginning of PM.
I’m confused.
