What Game Did You Play Today?

I gave Shovel Knight another chance. It bombed in less than ten minutes. (Instant death spikes, on the ceiling where they’re hard to see, and my jump arc flings me right into them? Fuck you.)

This game wasn’t made to be good. It was made to be as nostalgic as possible - even if that means walking back all the progress that’s been made in game design since the NES.

Pfffshhh, that happens every time? I thought it was just a fluke.

Another bug that super-annoyed me was the game crashing literally the moment my final RPG round hit the helicopter at the dam level. I had a few seconds to stare at the frozen explosion before it just closed out on me. ;-;

The multiplayer is good though. Aside from some mysterious and massive framerate drops. Using an LMG with a bipod is so damn fun.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D.

2 trophies away from dragon age inq plat. might do that tonight

Got to the Dark Valley in SoC today. There’s supposed to be a character at the entrance to the level that needs your help freeing one of his friends but he was dead and getting eaten by a dog. As I was going further into the level I saw the stalker he would have told me to save being escorted by two bandits to their camp. I managed to kill both of them without the guy being escorted dying but this was right in front of the bandit camp so they were getting ready to attack. The guy I saved took a gun off one of the dead bandits and me and him cleared it. I talked to him and he thanked me and told me one of his friends was imprisoned in the bandit HQ (different from the camp we just cleared). We both started walking away when a blowout started so we needed to find shelter. We started running back to the cleared bandit camp but he ran into an anomaly and died :frowning: .

I’m giving Dark Souls another go. Fuck it’s hard. I see the appeal, though. I just have to get down the timing on this fucking shield counter…

Also, nowhere did the game teach me that I have to equip a talisman in order to cast my miracles. I spent a long time trying to figure out why I couldn’t cast my healing miracle as a cleric. Eventually I had to look it up.

._.

I got halfway through a dungeon in Dark Souls without finding a bonfire only to die and respawn all the way back at the beginning one too many times. Maybe I’ll give this game a third shot in another month. (Seriously, if you’re going to drop a boss on my head halfway through a dungeon, you need to take the bonfire and shove it right up my asshole. From a game design perspective, you can leave absolutely no chance that I’ll miss it.)

I played through A Story About My Uncle instead. Very charming, fun, visually interesting, and relaxing (lookin’ at you Dark Souls) game.

Making you have to replay long, difficult segments over and over again just for lack of a savepoint really is just bad design.

Tried “Yet Another Zombie Defense Game” yesterday with three friends. Simple, awesome fun. Worth every penny of the .79 cents for the two pack :stuck_out_tongue:

I was playing Warthunder Tanks and I think their camo system is broken, 'cause I was sitting in the middle of the freaking map, firing tracer rounds, and NOBODY saw me

I bought Final Fantasy XIII on sale on Steam a while ago because I wanted to try and finally play a FF game.

There’s no pause button and I just died in the first tutorial battle. Blargh.

Filthy casual. :stuck_out_tongue:

I played some Destiny last night. Fuck the Dark Below, fuck The Templar and his God damn fuck all attacks. Fuck the Vex. And last but not least, fuck the guys who join your raid team and ditch out cause everyone dies a few times and leaves me fighting hordes on my own.

Honorary “fuck you” to the Crucible for being a shotgun/fusion rifle shit fest everytime I jump into a fight, with the occasional “douche with the sniper rifle that finds the glitched area to perch in” guy that manages to fuck you up everytime you step outside into an open area.

Also, fuck the reward system for shitty weapon/armor drops and the XP system can go hell, it takes weeks to level up your vanguard and crucible reputations.

On the plus side, I now have like a 7-800 kill score for my raids, which is kinda cool I guess.

Why do I even play this game?

Mind you, I’m not complaining about the lack of a pause button in combat. I’m complaining about the lack of a pause menu period. Pressing escape asks you if you want to quit the game.

Ick, play with 360 controller. It’s the only way the port is even playable.

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze.

The Order - 1886

This game got some average reviews, but honestly it was really well done. Some stuff coulda been fleshed out a bit more, but all in all it was a solid game and very pretty to look at. The steam-punk-y guns and gear are freakin cool imo, and the story is pretty entertaining. The whole complaint was that it was short, but I probably got a good 10-11 hours out of it, which isn’t that bad. Plus, it’s really open for a sequel, which would be quite awesome.

I’d give it a good 7.5-8/10 all round.

Recommend you try to get it for cheaper tho, trade ins and deals and the like. It’s not 60 bucks good, more like 40-50 dollars good.

On account of trailers for it running on the displays at my job, that game really perked my curiosity. I’m rather pleased to hear that it’s actually good but it’s a PS4 exclusive so bah.

I’ve been playing Final Fantasy XIII.

Apparently a lot of people hate this game for being really linear, and it is. The first level is literally just a perfectly straight pathway… But I find it hard to bothered when said pathway is a suspended bridge flying through the middle of a war going on in a suspended city built inside a massive cavern above an underground lake.

Not the mention the music.

I’m glad someone’s playing that game again. I should really livestream that for my twitch channel. I’ve never been able to decide whether or not I liked the game in an objective sense, because if it wasn’t for that game I literally would not have met someone very important to me. I also really loved the combat system and the soundtrack, but the characters often pissed me off for being stupid/not killing each other when someone in the party is terminally stupid. Plus, the plot goes batshit crazy in the second game. Haven’t played Lightning Returns yet, sadly.
