Tactics? You are aware you’re talking about a tripple A FPS game?
People who play that kind of games DO NOT HAVE THE BRAINS to pull of tactics 95% of the time.

Well, clearly tactics are a big part of things because a bunch of teams I’ve been on, that weren’t talking, got their asses handed to them.
I haven’t beat it yet but Burial at Sea Episode 2 is the best Deus Ex game since Human Revolution.
Played some more Burial at Sea Episode 2 for Bioshock Infinite.
Played a solo game of Civilization V with some Canada mod, and won the game by diplomacy.
I’ve seen quite a lot of people praise the STALKER series on this forum.
As someone who has never heard of it, would you recommend the series, or any specific titles from it?
War Thunder for me.
I’m officially overpowered as fuck.
Killed three jets in one match - one of them entered the fight with an obvious energy advantage. Poor bastard tried to jet-hang me though. Props hang better, apparently.
Play all of them. Clear Sky is a little eh compared to the others but play Shadow of Chernobyl first and then Call of Pripyat and if you want more after that play Clear Sky. Since it’s your first time playing them I’d suggest playing either vanilla or with the starter packs that the community have set up. I don’t have the link to them now but I should be able to post some download links in a few hours when I get home.
And yeah they’re fantastic. Seriously my favorite game series. Still need to get around to playing Clear Sky myself though.
Clear Sky SUCKED!!! The first half of it was fine, but once you enter into the Red Forrest and the plot begins the gameplay degrades, the hazards become almost unnavigable, there is a distinct lack of body armor, no repair kits, almost unlimited enemies to fight off in tight corridors, very linear… I hated Clear Sky.
I have only played 40 minutes of Call of Pripyat, and I don’t know why I haven’t played more. I should do that some day.
Here are a few links for that other guy. Here’s a link to a bunch of mods. Just click on the game and it’ll give you a list of mods to download. Like I said I suggest the starter packs for the games you haven’t played before.

And here’s a modding guide. It’s mostly drag and drop but some things need to be set up. It has diagrams and stuff.
It’s pretty much the same site.
I quite liked the Complete 2009 mod for SoC myself, though it may not be everyone’s cup of tea. It’s basically a total overhaul of SoC, which was generally considered to be an obvious beta. It fixes lots of bugs, tweaks AI and gunplay, improves lighting, etc. Here’s a link.
Complete also modifies a lot of variables, making the game easier. The devs market it as “Vanilla 2.0” or something like that when it’s really not. And it uses an old version of the mod it uses for bug fixing. The starter pack I linked above has the up to date one. There is nothing in Complete that you can’t get separately and by avoiding it you don’t get the changes that make the game a lot easier.
God damnit, don’t get this forum started on STALKER…
Well yeah it makes it easier, but from what I understood the AI, for human enemies at least, was absurdly difficult in vanilla SoC anyway(I know I know, never played vanilla, I’m a heretic and such). I don’t mind it being easier if it makes it less frustrating, but if it’s legitimately nerfing the challenge, then I’ll have to go back and try it your way.
Here’s some useful info about Complete
Why Complete 2009/2012 Is Not Vanilla 2.0:
The following features are also available in other mods, but are usually balanced out with other forms of difficulty:
In short, it makes the game a bit easier than vanilla, which may be fine if you are a pure-FPS type of player.
An older version of ZRP is used for Complete 2009’s bug fixes. It lacks the Permanent Radiation Bug fix but you can add that.
Screw complete. Everybody I see says OOHOOO USE IT FOR YOUR FIRST PLAYTHROUGH HURR ITS MAZIN when in reality its just one of the most hastily made compilation mods out there.
The only mod you would ever “need” for a first playthrough is the ZRP, and even I didn’t use that and with all the latest patches the game was stable.
Maybe some graphics/animation mods if you don’t like how some of em look (the weapon animations look a little odd, pistols are good but rifle reloads/sprinting are kinda mechanical looking)
Honestly, Clear Sky is pretty good if you stick strictly to freeplay/the faction war (as long as you have a mod that has some bugfixes for it)
The mod I’m using actually lets you skip the MQ and choose a faction right off the bat if you want to, though TFW mod is probably the best for the actual war since it gives you a ton of control (I’m a sucker for the nice weapon/arm models/anims though in the one I’m using)
IMO SoC and CoP are fantastic games, and CS is pretty good post-patches (and unofficial patches), albeit fucking irritating towards the end if you are doing the MQ. All of them are worth at least one playthrough, and I’ve already played SoC multiple times with different overhauls after vanilla (which still has the best atmosphere of the 3 games even if it’s the least technically impressive)
All of them have great mods too, as well as a very active modding scene and some impressive shit on the horizon (see gunslinger, Lost Alpha)
I could still revisit all of the games just because each one has such fucking absorbing and eerie atmosphere
Basically what I was told when I first played SoC
Guess I’ll have to go back sometime and play with some different mods.
What about Oblivion Lost? That had some interesting changes (like adding the Blowout mechanics to SoC).
I don’t know if this counts as playing a game, but I tested out my new 3DS XL today. Looks great and I’m looking forward to playing some games on it.
