What Game Did You Play Today?

Crysis 2 has one really bad line, it’s that sergeant that tells you to reset the detonators:

That bug in Far Cry 2 (also in Battlefield 3) makes certain actions require the standard key binds, especially annoying in Battlefield 3 since it’s usually in quicktime events.

I’ve played it like 50 times and still haven’t won, on EASY!

the second stage of the boss fight, I just can’t beat it. and I’ve had some powerful ships. this last time I had a boarding drone and 4 veteran fighting mantises, and still, I failed miserably :fffuuu:

what mods/visual enhancements are you using? are there any new ones since that patch came out last year? or is it still just basically SHTUP and rebirth?

I’m playing the vanilla game (GOG.com release, so maybe there’s a few enhancements under the hood but it still looks vanilla). SS2 doesn’t need graphics porn to be badass.

I heard that the graphics mods take away from the atmosphere

well, originally the face shapes were made up of like 5 planes or something, it was immersion-destroyingly bad. shtup and rebirth were necessities IMO

nope, unless you are a graphics whore

that hurts

but

you are posting on the black mesa forum

so…

so…your point is?

Fallout New Vegas, doing Old World Blues, damn it,
this DLC is awesome

His alleged point was that we all wanted a graphical update to a 12 year old game and were willing to wait eight years for it. Honestly though, it’s the tweaks to the gameplay and new puzzles I liked the most. Questionable Ethics was a huge high point of the remake for me.

If we just wanted visual updates and nothing else then the point would be valid. But the considerable changes to the gameplay that still “fit” with the feel of the original HL should distinguish it from simple “graphics whoring.”

I love the original HL as well, play it a bunch. So that shouldn’t apply.

Also, got to Asteroid Coaster in Sonic Colors. The level design here is INSANITY. Love it.

yeah, Black Mesa is pretty, but it’s not why we are here, we are here for a reimagining, not just a remake
besides, System Shock 2 loses most of the touches that make it unique with graphical mods

Fallout: New Vegas.

I think they purposely made it to crash every now and then so you can go out and do something else. 'Cause otherwise you’d play it to the end in one sitting. Damn that game is addictive.

what? maybe you are referring to other mods, but I fail to see how shtup and rebirth take anything away, a rounded face vs a pyramid face isn’t taking away any unique touches. didn’t Levine even say that the graphics were unfinished since they had to rush it to completion and weren’t funded enough or something to that effect

Don’t you fucking dare try and tell me that.

Sounds good to me :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, I used STHUP and Rebirth just for aesthetics, it pleases your eyes a bit more without affecting anything on the gameplay/immersion/atmosphere/etc… it’s not like FF Cinematic Mod for HL2, it’s not that radically changing… in the end, it’s not that important. Choices.

To me, Crysis 2 is not bad voice acting: it’s mediocre/passing voice acting. Far Cry “Punctuation is for Losers” 2 and Deus “Who Needs Inflection” Ex are the type of performances I consider bad voice acting. Also, Zeno Clash.

Anyway, PCSX2 is finally out in a version that’s stable enough to run the Ratchet & Clank games without crippling slowdown, so I’ve been playing those all weekend. The textures are glitchy as hell, but these games are awesome enough that I really don’t care.

Are there any good Gamecube emulators? I have a really strong desire to replay the Metroid Prime games but I don’t have my gamecube anymore.

Dolphin does both GC and Wii.

Seconding Dolphin. I played Pikmin on it a while back.
