That’s good news. However, I hope Valve realises that by building up the hype in such a purposeful way, the majority of their fans will automatically jump to Episode 3. If that turns out not to be the case, they’re going to have a lot of angry people.

EP3 would be a surprise but why would they have changed their plan of not releasing it this year? It’s not something you can finish 10 months earlier than expected…

I think that would be the surprise - as soon as everyone has given up hope they bring it out. As for distracting from Portal 2 - it’s a risk, certainly, but to me it would make sense to show Portal 2 right at the start, and then to show this mystery right at the end. It doesn’t distract anyone from Portal 2, but instead gives the impression that Vave is owning the show and the competition.

Me too. Unfortunately, years of experience in Valve’s release of games has taught me to be cynical. Either way though, I don’t think I’m too fussed. I’m in Arabia for the duration of E3 for a month, so I guess I’ll find out when I get back and either be pleasantly surprised or just excited about Portal 2.

Yea, because there are too many dumb people. There is no Half Life mentioned, in the text, Valve has written. Nothing about it. And Portal 2 is still the surprise. The most people don’t understand that.

C’mon guys…that whole email is blatant GlaDOS speak. I’m pretty sure Portal 2 is the “surprise” (maybe a demo like they did with HL2). I mean, think about it…after all the time, effort and (more importantly) $$$! that Valve spent on it’s announcement, why would they diminish that by showing something else? Just my 2 cents. I could be wrong…but I doubt it.
