Round here un-Australian is a very weak term which basically means “i think this idea/thing/person is stupid.”
In the United States, being “un-American” is tantamount to treason, heresy and siding with the enemy. Being “un-American” should result in you swinging from the gallows.
That’s, at least, how many people here treat the term when applying to people.

I’ve tried the same thing. I haven’t received an answer from anyone I’ve asked that question over the past six months. No one has any specifics. When they try to be specific, they mention things that aren’t in the bill.
Seriously, it is my belief, based upon the people I’ve talked to, that they’re against the imaginary.
Hmm I’m a little scared that the government has complete control of all the student loans. How will I afford college?
Is that really that big of an issue in the US (and by the sound of it, UK as well)?
Over here, I went to two colleges over the course of 6 years. Each year cost me about $400 subscription + an additional $100 for books etc. I paid for those 6 years by doing a summer job.
Additional costs included subscription to public transport ($140 a year), field trips and food. But nothing that the money I earned with a summer job couldn’t cover.
Granted, I didn’t have to rent a student flat/house/dorm/room/whatever.
from what i see on youtube, political blogs and american news clips… It’s as though the republican supporters are breeding with vegetables or something… They really have a thing about standing their ground almost like they’ve got roots growing out their feet, whatever Obama wants to do, they take it as their duty to their country to oppose it -_-.
Now I understand some people may have legitimate gripes with the president, but this ‘no-longer silent majority’ (who were pretty damn vocal during the election) are doing republican supporters at large no credit, as they just seem to be hateful, close-minded and needlessly afraid.
It seems they don’t need to understand something, or even want to understand it, to oppose it… they just hear the word ‘social’ mentioned and they fly off the handle going “OMFG! FCUKING COMMIE BASTARDS ARE TAKING OVER MAH COUNTREH! WANNAH TAEK AWAI MAH GUHNZ AND UNPLUG GRANDMA!!! IT’S THE NIGGRES/JEWBS!”
seriously… if it’s people with THIS mindset who made up the republican side of voters in the EXTREMELY close race of the the presidential election… the thought that the western worlds most influential country… has such a large population… of vegetable people… then I fear for the world :fffuuu:

Over here at my local college it will cost me $500+ each semester without books and essentials. I am already applying for a lot of scholarships as it is. But also like you I do not have to worry about a student dorm/apartment/ect.
