Those are probably just for cleaning the table after you’ve had your shoes on it… barbarians ^^

Mhm. The formats are another thing I’m pondering. In the store I visited they had three things to choose from; the trade paperbacks; the hardcover collections, which include two trade paperbacks according to the guy in the store; and a really big bunch that I’m guessing is the compendium you mention, which supposedly contains eight trade paperbacks.

Now in terms of what you get the compendium would be the cheapest, I would save around 200 kronor buying that instead of individual paperbacks, and probably more than 1000 instead of hardcovers. I do however really prefer reading stuff out of a hardcover, it’s just more comfortable, I like the extra durability, and I am totally willing to pay more to get that.

Then there’s also the omnibus edition that I could order online, which is also all nice and hardcover, and goes for about the same as the compendium, with about half the content.

Thing is, when I’m not too sure about this, I don’t know how much I’m willing to commit to, paying extra for a lot of issues, only to find that I didn’t enjoy them as much as I thought, would just suck, and if I were to just buy the first paperback, then decide that I would like more, and bought some larger collection, I wouldn’t want to pay for the same issues all over again.

I know I’m probably overthinking this way too much, I have 5000 kronor to spare, so prices aren’t really that big of a deal, but god dammit, it’s hard.

Well there are scans online if you are afraid of committing to buying it.

True, but when it comes to comics, I really prefer actually holding the book in my hands, reading on a screen is kinda annoying.

Well, I’ve at least decided to order whatever I’m getting online, though, far, far cheaper than getting them in the store, but I’m still note sure which version I’ll chose. I’ll sort that out tomorrow, though.

Wives and their damn candles. Cant wait to get back home and mod the shit out of skyrim on my PC. The “tissues” are actually papers.

Needed something a little more heavy duty?

Every time I leave this place becomes Banfest 2012. What’s with the high ban rates?

Fancy and Shadi are Permabanned. :fffuuu:

:fffuuu: those mostors. How could this have happened?

Haha, sure.

To respond to the Star Trek posts on the previous page:

My favorites go like this:

(Top = like, bottom = enh)
TNG
TOS
VOY
ENT
DS9

I did not like DS9. To me, it strayed too much from the formula and felt the least like a Star Trek series and more of a generic space drama. Star Trek, to me, is about a crew on a ship that can travel. Space stations like DS9 are stopping over points before continuing on to the next adventure. DS9, to me, felt perpetually trapped in what amounted to a space truckstop even with the adjacent wormhole.

Then the whole Dominion war and Sisko becoming a prophet…I just couldn’t get into it. It didn’t feel like Star Trek. I mean, it had Starfleet uniforms, the recognizable characters and alien races…but…I dunno. Just my opinion.

P.S.: Though, to be fair, one of my top 10 favorite Star Trek episodes was a DS9 episode. The one where they went back in time to Kirk’s Enterprise during “Trouble with Tribbles” (“Trials and Tribblations”). I thought it was really clever.

That picture actually just made me realize how dirty my boots are. le sighhh

My two favourite DS9 episodes off the top of my head are:
The one where Sisko becomes trapped in some sort of alternate reality where he is a 50s black science fiction writer (and I say black because it’s relevant to the setting). That one was absolutely incredible.
And the one where Sisko disappears, but keeps reappearing to Jake only throughout his entire life. I won’t say any more in case anyone (jokerine) is still going to watch it.

Those two episodes are definitely in my top 10 Star Trek moments, although I wouldn’t readily know what the others are.

I’ll always keep hoping for a new quality Star Trek series. Enterprise didn’t even come close, in my opinion.
I fear that Roddenberry’s influence is pretty much over.

I may sound like a geek, but Star Trek is definitely my favourite series ever. Pure Pwnage is a close second :3 (PP movie coming, btw!)

So, because I love Star Trek to an unhealthy degree and therefore jump on any chance to express my passion, I quickly made this chart that isn’t based on anything at all except my general perception of the series:

These are not mine - but these are trackies. dont you guys call them sweat suit pants?..

I’m watching TNG again through netflix, definitely my favorite Star Trek.

Can’t say I hated enterprise though. I found it to be quite enjoyable, even if it did stray from the other Star Treks a bit much.

And oh god, Riker without the beard is :fffuuu:

It’s so strange seeing him without it.

So I was reading this article earlier and found it absolutely fascinating:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faster-than-light#FTL_travel_of_non-information

Then I realized just how nerdy it is to be enraptured by something like that… :fffuuu:

Edit: Also I agree with bloodshot, Riker sans beard really is bizarre.

Isn’t to me. I don’t know why. Probably because Star Trek is ingrained into my memory.

I didn’t hate Enterprise either, although I’m almost hesitant to say I liked it.

There were a few episodes that stood out and felt like the quality Star Trek I’d come to know and love, but most of them just felt like generic filler. It didn’t have that special feeling I get when watching the other series. Seemed like just another Hollywood (or whatever the TV equivalent is) production, whereas Star Trek always felt unique and original.

I’m aware that my views may be subject to nostalgia glasses though.

My ex loved Star Trek, even though she had only seen Enterprise and that 2009 movie. And those two are the least Trekky things in Star Trek so far, imo.

Q (to Riker): “You were a lot more fun before the beard.”

listen to this :3

“We’re growing. Something about us compels us to learn, explore.”
“Yes, the human compulsion.”

Does anyone else pretend that, whenever a major actor from Star Trek turns up somewhere, that they’re actually the respective Star Trek character that has travelled back in time?

It was the first thought that crossed my mind when I saw Q in Breaking Bad.

I’m seriously geeking out over here. And I’m out of beer :frowning:

It’s okay Bur, I think every sane person has just a tiny piece of 100% crazy in them.

Me, well… I can’t tell you my piece of crazy. It’s way worse than that. :l
