I actually think (and kinda hope) that HL will end after Ep3. Otherwise i’m afraid it will just drag on… i mean i there were 2 be a half life 3 what would it be about? Another alien force invading earth for the third time? The Henry Freeman chronicles? :}
because i just can’t imagine Valve going all the way into HL3 with the combine-crisis, it has to end soon! Srsly, what else than the destruction of the combine could happen at the end of Ep3?
Yeah, new games in the HL series are released so often, it really gets boring.
Besides, the idea of fighting off an alien invasion was original, creating more games about it would get old.

What makes HL series great is the way the story is delivered, not the story itself, IMO. It is a showcase of how an FPS should be made. I know I’ll never get enough of it. :rabies:
Sure, storytelling is often more important than storywriting but it’s not like writing doesn’t have any impact on the overall experience. Even if they made the storytelling just as good in HL3 as in previous installments (xept for the abomination that is EP1) but kept the story the same it wouldn’t IMO be as good of a game
What I would like is that after ep3 they put a game/ new expansion where ya play as another character wich isn’t gordon like barney again, alyx, a combine soldier, shephard again, a metropolice, a vortigaunt, breen, a strider… some of that crap, I really loved hl1 expansions for that: another point of view
also that they put a new enemy RACE , new aliens working together owning humans and combine at the same time and, who knows? maybe the combine and the rebels have to work together after it! Nah just kiddin’, 3 sides 1 victory
yeah i guess expansions with different views would work alright, hopefully Valve will work on those and not gearbox software…
in the meantime… this is were i get off.
On topic: I’d like an extraordinary ending to the HL series. Something cliche like the player saving the world by sacrificing himself should be left for all the other nameless games out there. I’d like to be sitting at the PC for like 10 minutes after finishing it, with my mind blown to china O_o :what: :aah: :freeman:

The only reason I think Half-Life Should end is because IRL, nobody lives forever. What happens if something bad happens to someone important in making up the story of HL ? We’ll all be :fffuuu:Then:|

Today I played to much to the medic in tf2 so I will tell you my response of this form: NEIN!
What I would expect is something like black mesa, look 3 sides: the ppl of black mesa, the f*ckin’ aliens and the millitary.
Oppossing force, 5 sides: Friendly abandoned (and when they weren’t abandoned before were friendly too) soldiers, Race X, Xenians, black mesa personal and black ops.
so a good damn new race for half-life 2 would be VERY GOOD not more f*ckin ants from outer space :fffuuu: or crabs (from outter space) that jump in your head, they don’t even seem to be intelligent, I want a new enemy race with the habillity to think wich wouldn’t be the combine. I want something like the Race-X, friendly to some Xenians like vorts and unfriendly to others like the garg or the alien grunt
