Nah, his voice would be like this.
That’s even worse. I truly feel bad for him now that this revelation has happened.
they should have made it like in l4d, you can hear your character talk with the others, or like TF2.
Also some good Ideas for a prequel:
Shephard in: defeating the Xenians from earth then the Seven Hour War
Barney in: Same as shephard + escape from black mesa with car as flashback + infiltrate in civil protection
Alyx in: flashback of getting saved by the G-man, Repelling some xenians from earth, seven hour war, find gordon freeman right before the police sends him to nova prospect
Don’t forget about Annabel, who protects Gregori with her shotgun while Ravenholm falls apart around them, only to have it end with her falling to headcrabs herself so that Gregori has to use her own rifle to kill her.
Sure, the only reasoning that points to Annabel’s existence is the name of Gregori’s gun, which you don’t even know except through checking the actual game files associated with it. But I think it would make a fitting story for how he came to possess the gun, go mad, and still survived the attack on ravenholm.
In my opinion, I think that the story has to many odds and ends and that there needs to be several more games before the story can be ended. I mean, Gordon’s gotta get rid of the Xenians, the Combine, and stop them both from coming back. And then there’s G-man who is obviously a villain with extreme powers, so getting rid of him’s going to take time as well.
And finally there’s the things that Valve probably won’t do, such as reveal the fate of Adrian Shephard and the Alien X species.
Why does Gordon need to get rid of the Xenians? People seem perfectly capable of cohabiting or dealing with them on their own once the combine forces are dealt with.
Gman is NOT an obvious villain. He’s obviously been arranging things to ensure the success of the rebels, maybe he has his own agenda, but that hardly qualifies him for villain status. He has been and still is an enigma with his ultimate motives and powers still a complete mystery.
The way I see it, he never really cared one bit about the rebels, nor the combine for that matter. He only arranged things to ensure the safety of his contract (Gordon). This inadverently meant helping a few people out on the way - like the survivors around the nexus, when you blow the striders up - , but really couldn’t care less, what happens to the rebels.
Except it’s not a shotgun, it uses .357 magnum rounds.
Rifle then.
to be trully the actual objective of the G-man now (in hl2) is defeat the combine, he wants them out of his plans
Sorry, but that doesn’t make sense. Certainly, G-Man wants to keep Gordon in his employ, but having Gordon is not the end-all be-all of G-Man’s plans. What good would Gordon be if G-Man didn’t need him for anything? Gordon is only a tool to G-Man. He is not the objective, rather just a means to complete the objective. That objective (for the time being) seems to be to thwart the Combine, but that too could just be a side effect of what he really intends.
too many parties from too many universes at work in Half Life.
I wonder if Gordon will ever tap into the vortescence. Y’know, super powers the likes of Gman and the Vorts
Gordon will become Jesus. And so religion was born.
there’s a window in the materials test wich shows gordon as messiah with his crowbar
G-Man clearly states that he has employers, and not working just for his own ends. Obviously, he has other contracts than Gordon, I didn’t mean to imply, he is his only “thing”. So he has been assigned a task, which he uses Freeman, and other tools to finish, looks more like a middle man to me. Judging by his actions, everything else that doesn’t directly help him in finishing this task is expendable.
edit
Now that I think about it, maybe his employer is a yet unknown race or entity that’s enslaved by the combine as well (why else would he want to get rid of them). While his employers in HL1 could’ve been either the vortigaunts (unlikely) or the combine itself to create the portal storms, which contract ended after killing the nihilanth… not really on topic tough.
He also has Shephard as another ‘‘employer’’ for now he needs another ‘‘evaluation’’ (how op.force says) after the black mesa incident

imo, they’ll bring in the aperture science storyline, instead of it being just a spinoff. it probably plays some role in episode 3 or the following half-life. i dont want to make accusations that you get the portal gun, but it is a slight possibility. or they might make a cameo of the main character of portal.
Trust me, it was a reference, and yes your probably the only person to of noticed :freeman:
