S.T.A.L.K.E.R

I think, I’m not sure, but I think that if you start killing people int he bar area and then leave the map and some back they all revert back to friendly. But it has been a couple of years since I tried that.

Years.

+steam = updates, so maybe not. it seems like something theyd specifically try to fix.

I’m not sure if anybody else has this issue, but in CoP NPC’s and other objects suffer from hideously long spawns. I can literally stand at my objective for about two minutes until it spawn, or I can trudge through an anomaly and exit back out empty-handed until I realize the artifacts haven’t even spawned. My System Specs are pretty normal; I have 4 GB of Corsair Ram, Intel 1.80 Ghz Dual Core and an Nvidia 8800 GT, so it must be the game or the CD Drive not reading the disc fast enough.

Your processor is pretty old, actually. Fairly slow by today’s standards.

So you can research the shit out of every snork in the Zone.

Actually that makes me wonder why no bunkers in the zone have any military protection and rely entirely upon the employ of local stalkers for security.

Well, Duty’s pretty good at that sort of thing…
You see, the military can’t waste time helping scientists, but they tolerate their presence.

The Freedom base in the army warehouse was odd. I walked up to the three guards at the gate and stood about 1 meter away. No reaction. I blasted one in the face with Poker’s threaded SPAS-12 and he died. No reaction from the other two. I did the same to the left guard. No reaction from the right. Finally I took one step closer and the last guard fired before I got him too. And yet there were people in the base that could somehow spot me from 100 meters away. I guess because they were carrying sniper rifles or something?

Also why is it that the military doesn’t shoot at me anymore, but doesn’t talk to me either? They don’t even seem to see me. When the military raided the first lab as I was leaving, there was a soldier blocking the door. I tried everything to get around him but I couldn’t, so I had to shoot him in the face (took the advice of that guy in the arena). Anyways no one cared (except him), so I just left, but it was pretty weird. I don’t think I should have had to do that to get out…

Glitches most likely. Are you playing vanilla or with a mod?

I’m playing with Complete 2009. Trying to get out of the Brain Scorcher area ATM, and Monolith ain’t making it easy. Woulda kept my exoskeleton if I had known I would have to start fighting entire armies on the way to Pripyat. :S

You should always assume you’re going to have to fight an army :stuck_out_tongue: . I was kind of blindsided by it as well. Took me quite a few tries until I got all the way through it and was quicksaving like crazy. Just wait until you get closer to the end of the game. Shit gets even crazier.

Yes but the science teams are from the Ukrainian government. Why would you send in some researchers with almost no protection into an unspeakably hostile place and expect some local criminals to help?

Is the real Ukrainian government this thoughtless?

STALKER:SoC is a fantastic game, I played through 2 or so times unmodded, and am currently working on a playthrough with Complete 2009. While it’s cheating of a sort, I find the game much more enjoyable after increasing my carrying capacity from 50kg to ~65. I understand the inventory management approach (have played Diablo for years) but with 50kg I can barely carry the gear on my back and a handful of bandages.

And Mango, I think I’d try a different videocard if I were you. I have Windows 7 64-bit (you do as well, no?) and both games you’ve had issues with (Crysis and STALKER) run perfect for me in the same environment (OS, anyway). If memory serves, both games have/had issues where you just get a blank screen instead of the game launching. Common denominator is your GPU, and/or the settings you choose. Just my $.02 :stuck_out_tongue:

EDIT: I also wonder why the PDA never remembers that I’ve read every single encyclopedia entry and insists I have new entries every time I open it. And I love the quests that you fail within minutes of accepting because the NPCs have been killed somewhere else in the world. Overall though, bugs aside, it’s a great game.

What’s the general consensus on favorite STALKER games? Best: SoC, Worst: Clearsky, Middle: CoP?

People say Cs is the worst of the three, i enjoyed the first one (first playthrough i did like no side quests, will do second in detail) i started and have played a few hours maybe 6? of CS and im enjoying it very much, i like the whole upgrade system.

Oh and Batz, my feeble humble companion, i fixed SoC by editing the User.itx to rs_fullscreen off. then when in game, edited resolution, enhanced all graphics including lighting with dx10 and clicked fullscreen, and worked flawlessly.

Both games are fixed and working perfectly, also remember my GPU is still fairly new, so Backwards compatbility between DirectX, GPU, and Windows versions can make life a bitch sometimes.

I agree that vanilla Clear Sky is awful, but with its respective complete mod it isn’t all that bad. In fact its almost as good as vanilla Shadow of Chernobyl.

The Complete mod team have updated the Call Of Pripyat Banner and small media update

CoP Complete

Upgrade system? I will have to investigate. I need to put a wish list together, I have a number of gadgets/games I wish to pursue in due time/capital.

I don’t know if I should take offense to “feeble humble companion” humble, perhaps, I don’t know about feeble :stuck_out_tongue: . I was going to mention your tendency to set the games to window mode (I couldn’t remember if you indeed used it) but I wasn’t positive. Glad to hear that fixed it for you.

As for the [COLOR=‘Red’]red text, truer words were never spoken. I’m still working out bugs with my new hardware and Windows 7 as well. Getting Diablo II to run, and then trying TCP/IP, was interesting. Far Cry 2 crashes on me still (designed for Vista, my ass). And I found out the sound card I spent $70 on (Asus Xonar DX) performs worse than the RealTek built into my motherboard. I haven’t used onboard sound on my gaming computers since, cripes, the mid-1990s haha. I had a Soundblaster Live! 16, then a Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS, then this Xonar for a few months. Surround sound with the Xonar does not work in Crysis or Stalker, so I figured screw it, I’ll try the onboard and voila, surround sound without even changing a setting. :frowning: $70 soundcard bad…

EDIT EDIT: nvm, got all my questions answered

hey evrybody i’m interested in buying stalker,so,is a good game or what?

Yes.
