PSP2 Announcement

I know they can, but it would be horribly awkward and would limit the practical uses that the screen could actually have.

watched it before you posted it, doesn’t look too impressive, definitely worse than ps2 graphics

Bullshit. That’s what a few people coding on their own in their bedrooms using original PS2 bios can do. This is Sony we’re talking about.

Yeah, rookie mistake. Emulating isn’t even close to the same thing, it’s waaaaay more power hungry. Though the idea that the PS2 was more powerful than a dual core 3.gHz processor with a late-model video card did make giggle a little.

Yes, flicking through the menus to change camo was certainly annoying. I am at least interested to see how the game will turn out. I am indecisive over the graphics in all honesty, sometimes they look better and other times they look worse. The resolution seems to be lower and the AA seems to be nonexistant, that is how the PS2 one looks though, if you go back and play it.

I have played Snake Eater too many times to be interested, on a superior system(if even just for the controller) so I doubt I will rush out to buy a 3DS just for this. With anyone with a 3DS however, this will pretty much be a must have.

i never said port = emulator, let’s say the 3DS is out now, and there is already a very optimized emulator like pcsx2 but for the 3DS. It would probably require a quad core i7 with a DX11 card because the nintendo hardware is different.

Guys, me and my friends went to Japan for some vacation, and dropped by to check out the PSP2 and let me say this…

When they said it had PS3 graphics, they fucking meant it. I cant even begin to explain how it loooked when i saw it. But like you guys, i’m worried as to how long the battery will live… I didn’t get too much time to play it, but I got enough to get hyped for its release in America.

I know i’m buying it the day it comes out, so i’m happy(:

yes, the ps3 has ps3 graphics, we know that. I don’t get why you got so hyped up, though.

^Typo, sorry about that, but it’s been fixed.

The reason i’m so hyped up is because of it’s power, and plus, I know i can buy it, so why not?

I saw some Uncharted and MGS4 footage. It did look fucking great, but I wouldn’t put it at ps3. Maybe somewhere in the lower-middle 360 spectrum. The current gen games that were coming out in 06 that were just beginning to take advantage of the hardware.

I’d put most of what I’ve seen on the PSP 2 at just a bit above console Oblivion basically. Still fucking incredible for a handheld.

I wonder if ID’s planing on anything… They ARE trying to spread themselves across all platforms…

^ I guess, only time can tell, considering i havent’t heard about there involvement. What i would fucking cum buckets for is to see what the Unreal Engine can do with their kind of tech. Take the games that they made for the ipod for example. They made the Ipods shitty hardware look AMAZING. Incorporating that kind of stuff into the new PSP could have amazing potential.

It may not be completely PS3 quality graphics, but it is so close it isn’t a conversation of much worth. This is a massive technological achievement, especially since previous handheld systems have only equalled the power of the PS2.

I hope the PSP2 captures the interest of developers more, and I think it will. The PSP came out at a time when the next-gen consoles were coming in, so the step back in graphics and difficult control system meant no developer was particularly interested. The best games were simple puzzle games, which were really good but there is only so much you can do. Let’s hope this brings about a great generation of great handheld games!

I got high hopes for this generation of handhelds.

The fact that the FIRST generation of PSP 2 games have graphics similar to first generation 360/ps3 titles is incredible. As was with the PSP (see: God of War Chains of Olympus), I expect the best looking games to come after a year or two of the PSP 2 being out, definitely rivaling PS3 quality graphics.

This looks like it will really be a portable PS3 in every sense of the phrase. Control wise, graphics wise, game wise (and maybe even price wise)… amazing.

As soon as Monster Hunter Tri comes out for it, I’m getting one.

GREAT!! Another portable system my boys will want. (That I will “borrow” when I go on trips.) Probably get three and hide mine from them though. :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t understand why people are freaking out about it having PS3 like graphics. The PS3 is 5 years old. That kinda stuff happens you know, add to the fact that it will have a lower resolution screen than a TV.

Have you ever seen anything like this before? Just because it’s old doesn’t mean it’s brilliant we have it on a handheld, as it is still the current generation of games.

That is kin to saying “Oh this mobile phone can now play Crysis with all settings up at full…” but then going on to say, “Ah well, Crysis is now five years old…this isn’t interesting.”

I don’t really think the lower resolution matters. As having higher than native resolution is retarded. You may have not noticed, but a PSP screen isn’t 32"

I believe them about the graphics, but I don’t think it automatically means much. The DS supported 3D, but then its most popular games ended up being 2D.

Looking at the things people were able to pull off with the iPhone and PSP1 hardware, I think we will see even impressive things in the PSP2.

I mean, the PSP2 is supposed to have 4 times the performance of an iPhone 4 and some of the things we’ve seen on iPhone like the Epic Citadel and Rage TV are really awesome looking.
