Mission failed but dat velocity doe
Probably one of the stranger sequences in a game I’ve played.
(ACIII, maxed out, TXAA)

Whoa, before I read the text in your post I thought that was Jessie from team rocket with a content face, not a squirrel.
Really liked the theatre shows in this game.
Also, dat lighting :jizz: (and missed handshake)
FEAR still has pretty great lighting effects
nailed the landing
I guess he got the point
ok I’ll stop now
I don’t remember FEAR having soft shadows…?
Edit: Maybe I’m thinking of FEAR Combat, the free FEAR multiplayer thing.
/time to reinstall FEAR
It’s a graphics option that fakes it. It essentially renders every shadow twice and the offsets one of them to give the appearance of soft outlines.
Interesting. Where is that graphics option in FEAR?
Found it. Under “Advanced Video Card Options”, “Graphics”, “Soft Shadows”.
Wow, the game looks much better now.
I just looked and it’s just called “soft shadows” under graphics card options.
Unfortunately you can’t have AA enabled in-game with soft shadows working, though you can enable transparency AA through the NVIDIA control panel (And/or FXAA, not sure about ATI) and it pretty much remedies that.
Using regular AA even through the control panel seems to mess up soft shadows though
Hmm… could try forcing 2x2 supersampling through Nvidia Inspector if you have a sufficiently powerful GPU?
(not sure if it works with FEAR, but if it does it should avoid the AA / soft shadows incompatibility)
EDIT: Just tried it - I was wrong, enabling supersampling seems to disable the shadows completely :S
However, without that enabled I can enable FSAA in-game and the shadows are still soft. They behave strangely though - lighting changes (eg. gunfire, explosions) cause them to snap back and forth between sharp and soft, which doesn’t happen with FSAA off.
Maybe an SMAA injector would work?
EDIT: Just to have a screenshot in the screenshot thread…
Killzone running in PCSX2:
The distance fog is tinted yellow on every map for some reason, and the post-processing is broken causing the lines all over the screen (because it’s running in the hardware renderer - software mode is free of the lines but crashes less than a minute into gameplay).
EDIT: found a way to fix the lines - enable hardware hacks in GSdx settings and set Skipdraw to 2.

That’s Metro Last Light.
Ah, oops. Sorry, the guy in the center looked like Hitler.
I think that was the idea.
