Portal 2 lag

When i play Portal 2 it lags unbelievably much. Ive tryed setting everything to the lowest settings it still lags. Is there a way to reduce lag?

you gotta post your specs first

get a better computer…

OS:
Windows 7 Ultimate Edition (build 7600), 64-bit

CPU:
AMD Athlon™ Processor 2650e 1.60 GHz.

Ram:
4 gb DDR2 667/800 MHz (i can only use 3.7 of it for some reason i can’t remember).

GPU:
ATI Radeon 2100 (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM).

That is my specs.

I’m surprised it won’t run on that beast. Superfast processor and graphics card too.

Could do with some more ram tho, amirite?

It runs but it lags so much that i can’t stand it.

It’s simple, your computer sucks, no other way around it.

Thank you for telling me something i already know.

You seem to be using the generic drivers for your graphics card. Did you install the latest Catalyst drivers for it?

Then why are you posting here if you already know your computer is absolute shit?
That IS the problem, you can’t fix it another way.

Try setting the in-game resolution to something a few notches below your native one

DDR2 RAMS? OHOHOHOH

If you want to run a game that has fairly modern specs, you need a computer with fairly modern specs. You can try reducing the resolution or whatnot, but, in the end, your computer can do so much and it just might not be able to run the game satisfactorily.

In that case, you will just need to get better parts: a new motherboard, new processor, new RAM, a video card that isn’t embedded into the motherboard…that kind of stuff.

EDIT: I suggest getting a bit more current, as well, if you hope to play Black Mesa when it releases. You probably will have the same problem with lag if you don’t upgrade.

Can you recommend anything?

Intel i5 CPU, DDR3 RAM, and a Radeon HD5800 series or more video card.

Are you serious? You already have a stupid thread with 6 pages with nothing more than “hurr help me get a new PC”

Do everyone a favour shut up.

Well, he’s right, you have a thread just for that question.

…Just get a new PC. Almost any computer these days is enough to run P2.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
