The audio didn’t lag for me, but the video jerked maybe once or twice.
I still think they should have done it real time.

The wheat field would have looked like shit.
and I think the fast movement up the elevator would look weird without motion blur (source has it, but it’s shit). And maybe there was an audio sync problem. And maybe the speed you moved up the elevator required a bigger map than allowed.
The player has control over that moment. So it seems you can’t believe that YOU shot the moon…
Here it is. It’s really simple actually.
You put the crosshair over the moon, and you pulled the trigger. It’s as fucking simple as that.
Besides the moon was pretty fucking big in your view. It was hard NOT to hit. How fucking stupid do you have to be to not understand that?
And how the fuck are you going to dispute how the game works, and say you know more about the gun than the people who DESIGNED THE FUCKING GAME? THE PEOPLE WHO INVENTED THE FUCKING GUN?
What the fuck is wrong with you?
Edit: Dude, I had no idea you had a tv show.
Wait… You ARE already know? Well sorry to question, dude.
All I know is that the portal gun beam is programmed to go just a bit faster than the HL2 crossbow, but not affected by gravity. So it would take at least a few minutes to reach the moon at the speed it was programmed, if the distance between the target and gun was even close to being correct.
There is no friction in spaaaaaaaaace!
“Hey guys, I just discovered something! I made some calculations and there’s NO WAY Mario’s raccoon tail would provide enough lift to make him fly! What kind of suckers do they take us for huh? I couldn’t enjoy the game after that because that one thing is just sooooo stupid.”
That’s you! That’s how dumb you sound!
There’s a difference between game design and story details. Always has been in every game.
The beam for the portals speeds up as it flies through space. Inside the confines of the testing facility, the speed change is all but imperceptible, but for the distance it takes to go to the moon, it speeds up! Simple! :retard:
But, yes, handheld lasers could theoretically reach the moon, except that even the steadiest hand, the resulting laser dot (that isn’t diffused by the atmosphere, but let’s say that the portal beam isn’t diffused by the atmosphere) would still deviate wildly over a large swath of the moon and the laser dot probably wouldn’t even be visible to the naked eye.
But that’s not important. The point is, the laser will reach the moon from a handheld device. It’s just a lucky shot (VERY lucky) that the portal beam hit right outside Tranquility Base.
See, THAT’S the part I almost had a problem with. The fact that you were by Tranquility Base. But then I remembered suspension of disbelief etc.
This^
This is really becoming a terrible thread. Fast.
God dammit people, Valve has neither specifically considered the consequences of the Portal universe on Half Life nor considered the physics necessary to send a Portal to the moon. They also haven’t considered the physics necessary to create magical liquids that make people bounce, magical bridged made of light that are solid, the reason the combine didn’t ever find this technology, and why Aperture Science was never shut down for clearly illegal actions. Why? Because its a video game. It is only a video game. It is not supposed to be realistic, its supposed to be fun and light hearted. Move on with your bloody lives.
Chell’s a robot, problem solved
Ok Caste, you just complain about the most stupid fucking shit anyone can think of. What exactly is the problem? Do you want Valve to state that the portal would have actually most likely missed the Moon? What is the point of even bringing it up? Just drop it.
And blue colored gel can’t make you bounce and you can’t shoot holes into a floor and ceiling and fall forever.
IT. IS. A. GAME. Drop it.
You know what? I think that Chell is Caroline’s daughter. Reasons:
-GLaDOS changed her behavior towards Chell after Caroline woke up in her
-When GLaDOS says she had deleted Caroline, plates behind her are still blue (they turn red when operator turns evil). Also, they hide their lights (not entirely), just as GLaDOS tries to hide the truth. Also, when she sings “want you gone”, she says that “now little Caroline is in here too”.
-Robots opera is mostly incomprehensible, but one word i surely hear is “Cara Mia”, that means “My Love” or “My Darling”.
-She gave Chell companion cube as a sign of love.
Because white people make asians.
Well, didn’t you notice in Portal 1 that there WAS an entrance? It was a toll booth type deal. That shed is some kind of backdoor exit. Since the Aperture facility is in Cleveland. Lake Erie gives you a straight shot to the arctic. Something obviously happened to the city. It must’ve gotten leveled.
Oh come on. That much precision is not at all required to shoot the moon. I haven’t a clue where you’ve gotten this idea. I’ve shot the moon with a hand laser before (you can see the laser make a long line pointed right at the moon), it’s pretty damn easy. The hand laser is designed for pointing out stars to someone, if it were difficult to shoot the moon, then how the hell could you point out a star with it? The precision required to shoot an object depends entirely on it’s size from your perspective. You could make the equation percision=(object size)/(distance to the object). In this case both numbers are massive so they cancel each other out and turn into a pretty shootable target. Of course shooting a particular spot on the moon is a different story but that was just a lucky shot.
I saw an episode of Mythbusters where they shot the moon with a laser in order to disprove the Apollo landing hoax conspiracies, why is it really tough? I mean, the moon is pretty huge, and just pointing the Portal gun in the general direction of the moon wouldn’t have put a high chance for a hit on it?
The portal device has no ironsight :retard:
We have to assume Chell has some way of aiming it accurately because she seems to have no trouble hitting things spot on.
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
