I’m a dumbface, play the games.
It is pointless …
Edit: I mean - You will play all the time in this indie games, later - when Portal 2 will be relased - You will be “exhausted” and You will have no more energy, to play this f… awesome game - Portal 2.
Ok, now I understand everything - I was playing in Audiosurf - tell me someone - in every single game from this list we can find some stuff from Portal? I mean - every single game was somehow change? I’m just curious.
At this rate, it ll be done tomorrow…
Yeah, we wish. I ain’t forking over another €35 just so we might play it sooner.
Well I played Killing Floor and I noted a couple of interesting things:
- There is a new Portal 2 map with GLaDOS’ voice and zombie dispensers, which is pretty sweet.
- There is a weapon you can eventually buy a Potato (taking about 6 people and an hour to accomplish) which opens up an Aperture Science console into which if you type the password ‘Failed Experiment’ you get an achievement.
So… After reading the counter page there and looking at the messages she gave right after the countdown finished… Apparently we’ve been ‘generating electro-chemical energy’ for her to reboot…potatoes… Anybody seen a potato powered clock? I think that’s where the whole potatoes thing fits in. What if, in the future, Aperture has run out of backup electricity, and GlaDOS now uses potatoes to generate electricity and she’s using us to collect them for her so she can reboot :fffuuu:
As an interesting side note, PC Gamer gave Portal 2 Editor’s Choice award. In the screenie they have on there, there is what looks like a big potato hooked up to some electrical stuff in Valve’s artistic fashion. Very interesting indeed. I’ll bet potatoes play a significant role in the game.
Tater Tote
Carry science forward
So i’m going to guess yeah?
Is it gonna release on consoles early to or is it just on steam!?!?! I’m stuck in a sticky situation here and need some advice. Should I trade in some games to gamestop with their 25% extra trade-in toward portal 2 (releases 4/19/11) OR Talk my parents into letting me get Portal 2 for PC and get it early if enough potatoes power Glados (date varies) I don’t care about the games i’m trading in and I know I would get enough cash(credits?) for portal 2.
IF IT"S RELEASED EARLY FOR XBOX360 TO THEN THE WHOLE SITUATION CHANGES.
Console versions release on Tuesday. PC & Mac may release earlier (but I rather doubt it). I’d recommend getting it for PC for literally every reason on earth. Seriously, nobody is dumb enough to buy a Valve game for Xbox when they have a PC.
Bill-friggin-Gates would rather play Portal on a Mac than an Xbox.
Seriously? You kids these days have absolutely NO patience. Just wait patiently for the game, instead of stressing about whether you’ll get to play it mere hours earlier. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, you know.
If the problem is boredom, and you need to play a game NOW or suffer … well, go experience the sun outdoors, and enjoy real life a bit, until game-day, when we’ll all be back inside plugged into virtual reality for endless hours again.
I hear kite flying is nice this time of year.
Owning a game is all it takes.
Also you get the content if you own the games from before- you don’t have to buy the Potato Sack.
But yeah, you sure we half to fill the entire thing?
Especially with the multiplication per potato thing, this should be easy to do, even if we have to fill every bar.
TIME SPENT IN GAME INCREASES GAME’S BAR AS WELL AS OVERALL “COMPUTATIONS COMPLETED” BAR![/SIZE]
The individual bars indicate the MAXIMUM computation power we can get out of each game; i.e. when a bar fills, playing that game is pointless.
However, some games (less popular ones) give MORE power. Playing Toki Tori and TWEOTW will give more power than playing Killing Floor, but they might not be good to idle 24/7.
I’m guessing it’s going to be something similar to the gnome from Ep2.
Makes me miss Half-Life even more now…
Okay, play Potato-Games ALL day…
It was time for me to finish Amnesia anyways, i own it since September.
For me it’s the fact that I leave home tomorrow and will not (probably) have access to the internet for at least another week. That’s why I wanted the game yesterday or today.
Edit: I found another potato to add to the collection in Killing Floor. I think GLaDOS is powered by them. Also if you join the steam group NELIPOT then it adds a potato to your profile and boosts the counter. GO GET SOME 'TATOS!
One game is finished. The game will release three hours earlier.
Edit: It took us 20 hours to gain 3 hours of earlier release. wow I am impressed.
Yes this idea does seem slightly counter-productive.
On the bright side, that’s a whole day closer to release!
haha. optimist. Sry we only got 50 not 3 hours.
Just pre-ordered and and am pre-loading Portal 2. Wooo!
well according to my calculations, if the process of the “computations completed for launch” bar goes on as it did until now, the game will release 10 pm on monday GMT+1
one quarter is done in 19 hours, means 3 times more 19 hours which is 57 hours, roughly(see graphics, measured difference with paint and squares, maybe it’s ±2 hours wrong)
provided the game will be released when the bar is full
