Why must videogame companies create their own digital distribution software and keep their games exclusive to it?
I think it gives the cool feeling…
Wasn’t there a big shit fit between Valve and EA a while back over DRM? At any rate, Origin is bullshit and I’ll never bother with the PC ME. I got the collection because my 360 is busted and I have no other way to play ME1/2.
^ not drm. I was something about dlc money, can’t remember what specifically
Did anyone else get a coupon dropped in their Steam inventory today? I’ve got one for 75% off Serious Sam 3 that I’ll gladly trade for something else.
You can get the ME2 DLC from social.bioware.com. It’s a really dumb system but first you login to the site, then go to Games > Mass Effect 2> Official DLC. I don’t remember if you get a download prompt right away, but if you don’t, THEN you have to go to Profile on the left side and choose Your Registered Game Content to find your downloads, which you then download and run to patch your game.
It was a really dumb system but some of the DLC was worth it. At least they got that part right with ME3, even if it is on Origin.
Dark Souls is on sale on Amazon, and CS:GO is on sale on Steam. I’ll probably end up picking up both.
Rising Storm is finally on pre-order on Steam guys.
-15 percent if you’re new (pre-order discount)
- 25 more if you own RO2: Heroes of Stalingrad
Total of 40 percent, if you’re eligible for both. 8.4€ or so I think.
Because they saw how much money that Valve makes with Steam.
Then suddenly they realized that they can make money with a distribution platform and force everyone with exclusives like BF3 and ME3 like Valve did with Half Life 2.
It was a rhetorical question.
Amazon Digital Mayhem games sale.
Airport Firefighter Simulator is only $7.49, guys, these are some sick deals. But seriously, check it out, there are some good deals in here. I just picked up FEAR Ultimate Shooter Edition for $2.50.
I’ll probably get Mark of the Ninja and FEAR 2. I’m mad I didn’t get Dark Souls earlier and now you can’t get it anymore on the sale.
Edit: Amazon’s download procedure is weird as hell. You have to download an exe file which then gives you the key…
Except valve didn’t do that, when HL2 came out steam was just a thing that patched your games and was DRM.
It’s the exact same thing. All Valve games are exclusive to Steam and I dare you to find another digital store that sells their games.
A lot of people still hate Steam for being DRM. They just aren’t very vocal about it.
I’m hoping that Dark Souls might go back up on the sale at some point, but I’m not holding my breath…
EDIT: Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is $8.49 on Steam. Yes or no? I’ve always thought this game looks ridiculously fun, but I’m open to testimonials.
If you’ve ever been on the fence about Dear Esther, it’s part of the latest Humble Bundle. I personally think it’s great and you should pick it (and some other games) up for 1 cent or however much you want to spend.
Got it for $6 mainly for Hotline Miami.
Fuck Dear Esther (not really), get it for Thomas was alone.
The bad thing is, they actually think it’s still “only a DRM”. Sometimes I even read comments how GFWL is better than Steam. Jesus. GFWL is the biggest pile of shit that was ever released.
Batman is set in the price off. Get it, it’s amazing.
