Kerbal space program is on sale. I literally just finished torrenting it, too.

The Witcher games are on sale on Steam. If anyone missed the Serious Sam stuff recently I still have a Steam key for SS3 deluxe if anyone wants to gift me the Witcher games for it :3 .
GoG is having their summer sale. Picked up Blood, Redneck Rampage, and the first two Earthworm Jim games. Is Blood 2 any good?
final fantasy vii on steam? wuuuuut welp time to find out what the hype’s about, i am prepared for copious amounts of the seinfeld effect
Organ Trail is on sale on steam for today. Does anyone know if it’s good or not?
Prepare to die.
Of dysentery.
So… id weekend on Steam. I’ve got my eye on the QUAKE Collection (I’ve never played a quake game before, but they’re infamous, so I feel like they’re worth it). I already own I think all of the Bethesda stuff that’s on sale. So many classics here… the Wolf Pack (three Wolfenstein titles for $1.24), Commander Keen, HeXeN…
Rather than asking what’s worth it, I’m going to ask, what’s NOT worth it?
Should I buy FO3 or New Vegas? Does one run noticable better than the other?
Guns of Icarus is on sale… Should I buy it?
Alright, bought Fallout 3. Are there any truly ‘essential’ mods for it, like the unofficial patches for Skyrim?
Oh god yes. One is this one which fix the horrible animations. Then there’s Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch.
Fallout 3 Redesigned is good too if you want some better looking characters. Be aware though, some characters get changed to unrecognizable.(Mostly followers).
RH_IronSights to add ironsight. Requires FOSE.
And if you want a better looking world: NMC’s texture pack. It’s huge though.
For mods to work as intended in FO3 you’ll need to use the Archive Invalidation. There’s option to do this with the Nexus mod manager, but I believe I had some problems doing it that way.
And don’t forget about Large Address Aware Enabler. Your game will crash a lot if you decide to install that NMC’s texture pack if you do.
^ Ah, thank you! I don’t plan on modding a great deal, though… Texture mods aren’t really my think, and nested requirements make my head explode.
Also, just a heads up for anyone else who wants to buy it; Steam has apparently run out of CD keys for Fallout 3. Should be temporary, though.
I got Fallout: New Vegas. Likewise, are there any ‘essential’ mods for it?
First of all, each of you should grab FOSE/NVSE - they’re the script extenders. A lot of other mods depend on them, so they’re good to have. The first essential mods that spring to mind for me are the Sprint mods. There’s no sprint in vanilla FO3/FONV. These mods add a sprint function that consumes Action Points.
You’ll also want to Unofficial Patches. Beth RPG’s are notoriously buggy, and these community patches fix a lot of issues. Mission Mojave is the NV unofficial patch. The FO3 patch is just called Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch.
Another essential is a UI mod. I recommend MTUI. It has versions for both FO3 and NV.
I also really like A World of Pain. AWOP is for New Vegas, but there’s also a Fallout 3 version called AWOP4FO3. These are dungeon packs - they add a ton (in NV, I think it’s over a hundred) of new dungeons that are really challenging and really well-made. If you want mostly a vanilla experience to begin with, then save these for later, and they’ll be a great reason to replay.
Fellout: There are versions of this for both NV and FO3. It’s a really badass weather and lighting mod. It makes nights really stupidly dark, though; there are third-party fixes for that (see Fellout Nights Restored).
If you want snappy texture packs, a guy named NMC has done huge texture packs for both FO3 and NV. Search for NMC’s Texture Pack.
Enhanced Night Sky has versions for both FO3 and NV. It’s a night sky texture replacer that makes nights really jaw-dropping.
New Vegas has weapon modding, while FO3 doesn’t. For New Vegas, you should get the Weapon Mod Menu mod. It makes modding weapons much better and more complete. If you want mods in FO3, try Weapon Mod Kits. It allows you to add silencers, extended clips, and auto-fire mechanisms in various combinations to some weapons. It’s much more limited than NV’s modding system, but still pretty cool.
I recommend nexusmods.com as a great place to get all of the above mods and also explore other mods.
Humble Origin Bundle is on for two weeks. Lots of good games in it, and most of them have Steam keys as well.
Origin and Steam keys:
Dead Space
Burnout Paradise (The Ultimate Box)
Crysis 2 Maximum Edition
Mirror’s Edge
Dead Space
Medal of Honor
Origin Only keys:
Dead Space 3
Battlefield 3
The Sims 3 + Starter Pack
Oh fuck, and I just started school too.
The latest Humble Bundle (9) is looking pretty juicy - it’s got Bastion and Limbo and Fez and FTL if you pay more than the average ($4.72 as of a couple minutes ago).
EDIT: btw, if anyone wants Bastion, Limbo, or FTL, PM me, because I’ve got extra keys now.
So the X games are the new Humble Bundle this week. They look interesting but I wanted to see what people here had to say about them.
