HL3 doesnt exist… HL2:EP3 still does. They mentioned that they wont go the episodic route anymore. MEANING… they will not do that with any other games. They will still release Episode 3 because it is in development and have planned on it already. Just no more episodic games after.
How about we wait til it’s announced because nobody’s answer has been a whole lot more than speculation over vague wording.

Half Life 2 took Valve only 2,5 years. And I bet, they already work on a new Half Life title. It’s not like they started to work on it today or yesterday.

AFAIK last year they announced they were going to be at E3, and at the last minute said “we have a surprise.” This year, they aren’t even going.

So ? They had base of the game and that dont change fact it was in development for 5 years.
Duke Nukem Forever is in development for 14 years now but saying its only 4-5 on their latest engine is stupid.

Valve started working on it in 1999 and we were able to play it in 2004.
