No New Valve Game At E3

Life-Less: No New Valve Game At E3: “we are not showing any titles at this year’s show”

Just because I know a topic about it will show up sooner or later. I’m disappointed, but not at all surprised.

Dammit I want EP3 already.

What Garth said.

I have largely given up hope of seeing another installment of Half Life. I find it very sad that the idiots at Valve feel the need to continue to work on sideshow nonsense rather than the main event. I did not buy or play either Left 4 Dead title (and I won’t), I will not even consider DOTA. The only reason I even played Portal 2 (and disappointed at that) is because it was a gift from my wife. I would have avoided it as well. I will simply not purchase or support any new Valve title until they put some long overdue effort (as in everyone, not just a team) into the only franchise that really matters.

I read your post in the Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons’s voice.

Portal 2: Worst. Game. Ever.

This is rather disappointing though. One must wonder though if Valve would tell us in advance if they were going to reveal a new HL game.

Perhaps they will do what they did with Portal 2, announce it in Game Informer this fall (Game Informer did predict at least mention of a new Half Life game this year), showcase it at E3 next year, and if we’re really lucky, get it by November of next year (2012). Worst case scenario, we get it in early to mid 2013, which will mean we have been waiting for our next Half Life game for about the same amount of time they waited for Half-Life 2.

What makes you think you are entitled to receive whatever game you want?

Don’t get me wrong, I want to get Ep3 as much as the next guy, but Valve doesn’t owe me (or you) anything, and they can do whatever they want with their time and money.

I’m actually really interested in DoTa2. I’ve never been much of a fan of any kind of game but regular ol’ shooters but if it’s made by Valve it’s gotta be good. And it sounds so bizarre and unique.

This is what they said about last year’s E3… but ended up showing up at the last minute with the whole Portal 2/PS3 news…

And it has realistic cloth physics :retard: .

This is where I stopped reading & added you to my ignore list.

IGN clarified in their article on the subject that Valve was speaking of media demos, and that it didn’t include any new public trailers they may release.

But I’m still not holding my breath.

Like bobbo said, this is a ploy that Valve has used before, and I’m not too worried about it . . . yet. A big-name company like Valve has a lot to gain from showcasing at least something at a convention like E3, even if the purpose is solely to keep a foot in the spotlight. I’d say it’s about 50/50 we will see the unraveling of something by Valve at E3, even if it isn’t what we’re all hoping for.

It’s like the name suggests: We wait a half life for Half-Life :’(

I don’t like getting into all this but that was pretty funny!

Long an short I hope every game company is working on something awesome!!!

And what makes you think Valve are entitled to receive my money for any other game they make?*

*Just playing the devil’s advocate here.

Eh, they did this with Half-Life 2, I honestly wouldn’t be too surprised if the recent updates to Killing Floor and Amnesia are related.

Not holding my breath though.

There will be 100% at least some info about HL this year … and I’m waiting for Dota 2 ! I’m really interested in Gabe’s : “I think, when you see a game like Dota 2, you’ll see how developers can get a lot more out of Source than most companies can get from a scratch-built engine”

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
