No Episode 3 this year

Holy attitude. Using your third party “source”
https://www.vg247.com/2010/01/19/report-no-new-half-life-this-year/
does not constitute confirmed. Until Valve itself comes out and says it, it isn’t. I never said that I believed EP3 was coming out this year. I’m simply stating that you can’t write something as “confirmed” when it isn’t. The article in question isn’t even mentioned on the magazine’s website and as others have stated, if it is, it’s in the rumor section. Rumor =/= confirmed.

My attitude wasn’t based on the article, but on how quite Valve has been around Episode 3. It seem very unlikely that it will be released this year.

I admit that it was premature to call it completely confirmed, but I think we can say pretty safely that it won’t be happening this year regardless of the article.

That’s opinion, not fact.

So change the title to “opinion”

I’d do it, cause the source does seem questionable after checking a little more thoroughly.
I still find it strange that most of the sites go around stating that it’s just not happening.

Nevermind that can’t change the title thing, missed the advanced button.

GAY

Missed the advanced button. Hope the title is more fitting now.

Edit: Gah, that’s only the title of the post, not the topic. Great.

It is unchanged :hmph:

Read ze above.

Sneaky edit is sneaky!

Well there’s no sense in worrying about it now. Regardless, we just have to wait and see what happens.

I am a ninja.

Yeah I guess so. Sorry bout the attitude from before by the way. Was getting a bit too defensive there. Probably just too tired + Too much homework.

Edit: And a thanks to Garcian for changing the topic title.

I really want Ep3, but I can wait another year. Following BM for all these years has made me immune to delays. At least we’ll still get the TF2 Engi update, the rest of the Meet The videos, L4D and L4D2 DLC and possibly Portal 2.

It happens. I’d be lying if I said I haven’t done it too.

Honestly, I only really got into Half Life when EP2 came out. So I don’t know what it’s like to be waiting for one of their games.
Dammit Valve, I’m not used to being this anxious > :frowning:

I was also hoping that Ep3 would take a good 10 hours, but maybe now it’ll take 15 hours

EDIT: Looks like Valve are skipping E3 again:

Don’t you know how gaming news sites work anymore? Other than product previews, where journalists are invited somewhere and sign an NDA until a certain date (where all the websites pretty much post their previews at once), most gaming news is posted by ONE site and then the other sites basically copy the news, usually with a link to the original source (which in this case, is the Game Informer Mag). So it matters little if 50 websites post the news, or the semantics of how they reword it, or how reputable the sites are. The fact remains it all came from the same place, and THAT PLACE doesn’t list a source and even admits it is unconfirmed. It was even listed in some “Rumors & Speculations” heading of the magazine itself (or so I’ve heard, since I don’t have it here in front of me). For shit’s sake man, open your eyes. Do you believe all those email forwards you get as well?

It doesn’t matter how thoroughly the muck digger at Game Informer “checked” the source… what matters is how reputable the source is. Since they don’t give their source, it could be just about anybody; a cousin of a friend or some such. I’m betting it’s not someone from Valve, otherwise they wouldn’t admit it’s just a rumor.

Oh yeah? Funny, I’ve been following HL pretty closely. I was there at E3 in Valve’s hotel suite when they showcased HL2 for the first time. I interviewed Gabe in his office last August. And yet, I have not come to the same conclusion you have. But then, maybe you know something I don’t? (I mean, besides reading these news posts?) I don’t mean to name drop, and I’m not trying to say that just because I’ve been lucky on those occasions I know more about the subject than you. That is kind of my point: no matter how closely you have followed Valve, we still don’t know shit about EP3. We’re all in the same boat.

What it really comes down to is that NOTHING has changed since that news post came out. We still really have no info on EP3 and have no idea when it’s coming out. Sure, it COULD come out next year or later, but that seems less likely than this year simply because it has already been quite a while. And while either one is just speculation, I’m just saying there is still no reason to assume it won’t be coming out this year. I’m guessing Valve is going to throw PAX a bone this year and showcase EP3 there. I’m hoping to go to PAX, so I guess I’ll find out.

Either way, my point is this whole thing is still BS unless Valve confirms otherwise… and as I said, I believe that was the original intent of the rumor: to spark controversy and goad Valve into commenting on the validity of the subject, hence revealing something in the process. Everyone is hungry for EP3, so it is of no surprise any hint of news, even rumors, spreads like wildfire. I guess I can’t blame them. I’m hungry too.

Sorry for the wall of text guys. I just hate it when people try to form speculation into truth. Thanks for letting me vent :stuck_out_tongue:

EDIT: My apologies to Daedalus, who seems to have realized the error of his ways. I posted all this before I saw some of his posts afterwards. Oh well, I’m leaving this here for anyone else who wants to take the same stance.

That is just the list of vendors that have signed up so far. It is far from complete.

Thank you, Mr. Smith. Your incite is like watching a beautiful waterfall of wisdom.

Ah heck, I blame Left 4 Dead. (Remembers the L4D2 DLC coming in Spring) aw I can’t stay mad at you.

I don’t really mind the delay but I do hope that we’ll at least get some info later this year.

I wonder if it will still be a source game?

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
