No Episode 3 this year

https://www.vg247.com/2010/01/19/report-no-new-half-life-this-year/

According to the article in the Game Informer, there will be no ‘Half-Life related’ game released this year by Valve.

Most of us already thought so, but now we can be pretty sure it ain’t appearing this year.

The source does seem a little sketchy though.

I just hope that we’ll at least get some info on Ep3 this year.

Like Gabe saying it won’t be in 2011 too :stuck_out_tongue:

This is getting ridiculous. I though the whole point to these episodes was that we wouldn’t have to wait so long to get them.

Fucking ridiculous.

Dangit.

EP3 Forever ?

It better be the mother of all episodes.

Better graphics and shading also? :3

MOAR HDR

I found a screenshot:

LOTS OF HDR

Maybe? Well, it has certainly left a sour taste in my mouth unfortunately. This is pretty pathetic. Methinks that it indeed is going the way of DNF.

they canceled the development of EP3 because of L4D 3

fix’d

ok, come on guys, we atleast know its not because of L4D. Valve bought the company originally working on L4D and hired some people since who have been working onL4D. I don’t think they sacrificed much if any on HL’s dev team for it. I think they have always been running parallel with each other. However, Valve has been taking far too much time with it. Its like they can’t figure out where to go with it and so have just been playing around. Either that or they’re holding off with Episode 3 until they know where they are going with HL3. But it is still more than rediculous. The episodes were supposed to cut down on development time, not increase it.

C’mon Valve, throw us a frickin’ bone here! E3,GamesCon, anything, just not more L4D or TF3!! (Portal 2 is ok though)
Reading some of them comments on that site, I’d like to believe they’re working on a heavily updated version of the Source engine, and that it will be substantially longer than a normal episode length. All I can say is, it better be worth the wait, because we’ve been waiting a long time.

Yeah I was just trollin around. I don’t really mind L4D tbh. Besides, as far as I know they’re made by different teams anyway.

It is kinda lame that it isn’t coming out this year.
Atleast we’ll have Black Mesa to keep us busy. (Which will be more awesome anyway.)

Episode 3 will be alot bigger than 1 and 2 though, I think we can be sure of that now.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there was 9~ hours of gameplay.

Waht about teh l33t balk meas?

No Half Life related game by Valve, of course.

Thank god the Balck Meas team ain’t Valve.
I think we can be pretty damn sure it’s coming this year. Hopefuly the first half.

Hmm increased development time reduces the chance of it running on my shoddy laptop. Episode 3: slideshow edition. Time to start saving I think :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m sure it’ll be worth it, but there’s a difference between keeping the best parts a surprise and not showing ANYTHING of the game!

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
