No Episode 3 this year

Meh I can take on valve’s challenge of waiting. Bring it Gabe. I DARE YA!

To make it fair for certain people, I think HL2: Episode 3 should be made with the Orange Box Source, and then HL3 to have a serious update.

Adam, where is the parrot in your sig from. I’m assuming its a youtube meme.

Although I was really looking forward to Episode 3 I can wait, however only if it is worth the wait.
We get Black Mesa this year though right?

think again

They’re gonna update something in their engine. May be the physics, the lighting, the map-scale, the dreadful loading times, or even the textures.

Use the EDIT button. It’s right there for you.

Itz nevurrr coming. NEVUUURRRR!!!

What a crock of shit. EP2 ended so brilliantly, and now they are pulling this shit?

Valve is free to change their layout as they want. They might decide to do away with “Episode” 3, and make a full-length game, entitled Half-Life 3 that concludes the current story arc. It would be like a movie starting a series, the series (only two episodes though, so this probably wouldn’t work the same on TV, lol), and then a movie concluding the series, with spinoffs and future seasons (Ie HL4) possible.

I mean, seriously, if “Episode” 3 ended up being as long as HL2, I think they’d drop the episode title.

Even if it is the same length as Episode 1 (I honestly hope it’s a bit longer, though), I wouldn’t mind too horribly, as Half-Life has always been good at conveying story in FPS mode, and I appreciate it for that. That, and they’ve been busy puking out TF2 updates, L4D support and L4D2, the moneybags that pay for Steam’s servers and valve’s profit, which then goes towards Episode 3.

I was convinced at one point, I would play Episode 3 before Black Mesa.

That’s some new speculation right durr.

Ricochet.

I thought it was playable, if anything at the time I thought TF was worse.

Oh, that Tron style game, with the discs? Yeah that doesn’t count.

I’m not too worried, I’ve got way too many other games on my plate. Valve has proved to me that when they take an ungodly amount of time to do something, they’re usually doing it really well.

AvP3 and BioShock 2’s coming up so I’m good for now. And hopefully BMS will be out before the second half of 2010 :frowning:

End the last episode of a brilliant game with a fuckin cliffhanger and then wait half a dozen years before concluding the series that has already been outdated in engine technology, graphics, features and everything?

Yeah. Sounds like cool marketing strategy.

Halo 2 and Halo 3 anyone :stuck_out_tongue:

maybe the half life series is just dead to the valve dev team I mean they have been so dependent on it for so long and they delayed ep3 with the left 4 dead series

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
