Win.
Like I said a long time ago, good developers work around the limitations. Yes there is a limit to how much you can work around, but developers are pushing the limit for what a console can do every day.
Exhibit A: Mass Effect. It was one of the big 360 exclusives that went alongside Halo 3 during the Winter 2007 Gaming Extravaganza, and is one of the best games I have ever played. The art design, story, and length all made for a great gaming experience. Maybe it’s not as complex as Deus Ex, but I personally don’t give a fuck.
And like I said, consoles need to start somewhere. If that somewhere is Halo, then it will start there. Since Halo’s release, console games have only gotten better. Xbox Live was created and thus the first time online multiplayer was possible on a console that wasn’t shit (Go ahead and list your favorite games on that console. I don’t care.) Xbox Live then paved the way for the PSNetwork, which brought a huge innovation over Xbox Live…it’s FREE.
Hell, Unreal Tournament III on the PS3 supports mods, and developers are already talking about bringing more user made content to the console version of their games (even Valve!)
So maybe consoles aren’t up to par with the PC yet, but they’re getting there. I’m not trying to convince you to go out and get a console, but saying that you “wished the Xbox was never released” proves your ignorance. Developers that use console limitations as an excuse deserve to be pointed and laughed at.
On topic: This is just stupid. What, does Activision have some kind of shittyness quota you have to meet for the PC version of multiplatform games? What’s next, are they going to remove keyboard and mouse support? How is this “catering” to the “console-tards.” What kind of broken logic is that? They’re different versions of the same game! Each version can/should take advantage of the capabilities of their respective platform, ie dedicated servers and mods!
