No Dedicated Server support for PC Modern Warfare 2

We’re not talking about the treatment of another race or the passing of a gun law, though. We’re talking about a game. =/

That’s cool and shit, but MW2 getting Dedicated Server Support isn’t an advancement concerning society, treatment of others, and rights that has occurred in mankind for the better part of our sentient existence. It’s a fucking video game.

From a milked out franchise at that.

Game devs know that the slobbering masses will buy a game no matter the cost if it is overhyped. As such, they can do whatever they want to it. Especially to the PC version, as PC gamers don’t buy as many copies, though they do have higher standards, so are not comprised of slobbering masses.

Man that guy is a retard. In my opinion i believe that mods actually add value to a game and actually extend its life in the market.

I never buy games that aren’t worth the value. I bought Half Life 2 cause of all the added value the mods gave the game.

Why the hell would you intentionally make a game/product unplayable with no mods for it, not give the pc gamers the collectors edition(jambo made a thread for that), and add insult to injury by fucking up the multiplayer?

This motherfucker needs to retake a business course since hes completely ruining the product value us customers see in CoD.

Wow. I’ve never seen so much CoD hate in one place!

This is why I hate Activision. They don’t care about their consumers so long as they get paid. Sure, you can say that about pretty much any company, but at least the good ones TRY to cover that fact up. Like how Valve offers free DLC, and releases SDKs to expand the life of their games (on the PC at least.) Activision just makes pile upon pile of shit, and hold off features for “the next game” (see: Guitar Hero.)

Not to mention the fact that they tried to block the release of Brutal Legend, the greatest game ever, which automatically makes them worse than Zombie Hitler.

Wait, how did they try to block Brütal Legend?

They were going to publish it, but they dropped it as well as a few other titles (Riddick and Ghostbusters for example) when they merged with Blizzard. Of course, everyone was like “oh noes! not Ghostbusters! Wait, wats brut leghen?” Yes, that’s how warped we are about existing IPs verses new ones.
Thankfully, Double Fine got a publishing deal with Activision’s competitor: EA.

Activision then sued for the publishing rights for Brutal Legend, just so they can shelve it and possibly loosen up the competition with Guitar Hero 5. EA the responded with a quote that made me give them unlimited respect for life: “We don’t think Activision will try to sue. That would be like leaving your wife and children, then suing when your ex-wife finds a better looking guy.” Epic fucking win EA!

Activision continued to sue. But luckily, our system worked for once, and Double Fine didn’t have to pay a cent in damages.

I refuse to buy anything from Activision from now on. Now that id is owned by ZeniMax (Thank FSM), all they really have now are Guitar Hero, Call of Duty, and WoW. Rock Band is better, Halo is more fun (in my opinion), and I hate MMOs. So I’m good for now. I’m trying to convince my sister that Rock Band is better than Guitar Hero, but she apparently “doesn’t like the square notes.”
Pffft. Youth.

The Beatles are not only bigger than Jesus, but they’re also bigger than Guitar Hero!

Hmmmm, interesting. Activition does seem to be run by dicks though, especially with pricing. Unfortunately, most casual gamers are idiots, so I fear they will get away with it. Ah well, we can always count on Valve as a bastion of awesomeness.

EDIT: Maybe I’ll just contribute to the fall of PC gaming and pirate the thing. Activision deserves it, I must say. Although I have been trying not to pirate anything, I’ve made it about 6 months so far, so I really don’t know.

Hmmm…
I’m ussually the first to to “FUCK NO! FUCK YOU PIRATE!”, but… it is Activision.
Ah, no. One person pirating this game isn’t going to stop the MILLIONS of others from BUYING the game. We’re a drop in the ocean my friend.

Yeah well. We can just wait for them to raise the price so high no one buys it, but I fear even at twice its current price the world has enough idiots to make it worth it for Activision.

Every comment that so much as says “I like consoles” is -22 and all the “lol, autoaim” and “only noobs use consoles grow up pussies” and “joysticks r 4 peopl with downs syndrome loololololo” comments gets +22.
You see, this is why no one supports PC gaming anymore; we’re all whiny bitches riding on our high horse that died years ago with the release of the XBox.

No, PC gaming is dying because consoles are not owned by gamers as much as casual gamers. True gamers for the most part use PCs and therefore care more about their games while casual gamers, the console users, don’t care as much because they are not actually gamers. I do wish the XBox had never been released. Now I get to watch the flood of worthless made-for-casual games flood the market with their paper thin gameplay and worthless story, but that is irrelevant.

Who the fuck are you to decide what qualifies as being a “gamer”?
Despite what the majority of PC gamers have deluded themselves into believing, there are many, many great games on consoles.
MGS4 is exclusive to consoles (the PS3 to be exact.) Same with Brutal Legend. Thus every anti-console argument is invalid.

Now, that doesn’t excuse Infinity Ward at all. I’m just sick of the majority of PC gamers “looking down at us and shaking their heads” just because we’re able to have FUN with our games! Not make it a second choir that only the “hardcore” can enjoy. I’m sorry, but if I wait another minute in spectator mode in CounterStrike just because I died ONE TIME in the first two minutes of the round, I’ll go fucking nuts!

I’m not saying that all console games suck. I agree that Brutal Legend seems to be awesome, although being a true Half Lifer any game with more than 5 freakin’ hours of cutscenes loses some massive points with me. What I am saying is that although there are some gems, consoles have brought down standards for games, including PC games. Halo is considered great only because it was on a console. That pretty much sums it all up. I’m not saying that console games are easier. Also, I find waiting a minute in CS annoying too, which is why I play TF2, which is infinitely better on a PC.

How do consoles “magically” make developers lower their standards? It’s not really consoles’ fault, but rather it is the developers.
Why can’t PC gamers have Dedicated servers and mods, while console gamers just get the Peer-to-Peer shit that we always get? How does giving the PC version less features than it can “cater” to the “console-tards”?

As for Halo, well, consoles have to start somewhere, and Halo had the first FPS control scheme that worked on a console (so long as you weren’t terminally ill and able to work two joysticks at the same time.) It’s not as accurate as a keyboard and mouse (something that PC fanboys have made me VERY much aware of), but that’s why we have an auto-aim feature that just barely helps you with your aim. BARELY (I cannot stress that word enough.) But since PC fanboys refuse to believe that an FPS can work on a console, they use auto-aim (BARELY) as a laughing point.

Not every game needs to be “dumbed down” for consoles. Fallout 3 is the same across all platforms, except the PS3 version is buggier and the PC version has mod support and some other technical advantages.

Halo was nothing special in the FPS world, and as I said, it was only special because it was on a console. As such, devs realized that because of console limitations, they could get away with lower standard games than their PC counterparts, only because consoles were more limited. I’m not saying games are “dumbed down”, although they are simplified control-wise, they are just lower standards for great games.

Well we are the ones that they are making it for.

They make games for us to enjoy.

They make games for us to buy so they make money.
