Nintendo 3DS

I’m waiting for a augmented reality game that uses the external camera, imagine going round your house zapping invisible enemy’s that you can only see using the game. Actually maybe not, you could get paranoid if you play it before you go to sleep…

Invizimals, for PSP (with camera attachment). Although its more of a virtual pets game. Also some game I was playing on DSI that was exactly what you’re describing, I forget what it was called.

Augmented reality isn’t necessarily going to work on a 3d screen, unless the 3DS has 2 cameras so it can capture stereoscopic video in addition to rendering 3d characters. It’s not totally out of the question (DS already has 2 cameras, just facing in different directions) but I’d expect someone would have leaked it by now if that was the case.

I think there’s already a game like that for the DSi, I am however unsure of the name.
dammit Ninja’d

Wow with the new graphics solutions we might finally see a valve game on a portable console. hopes

HAHAHA, HAAHAAHAA!
HA, HA, HA.

HA.:hmph:

Can’t be adjusted, you say?

OBVIOUSLY NOT THE REAL THING, BUT LET US HOPE ITS CLOSE.

I hope it isn’t, I hope they go back to one screen, but yeah, I get the idea.

Notice how it’s the size of an arcade cabinet - Good luck fitting those screen-controlling servos inside a handheld console for less than $200.

I bet 3DS will cost 399$

doubtful considering Nintendo’s historical pricing strategy. also parallax screens aren’t particularly expensive to produce (if they aren’t mechanically controlled lol). but I wouldn’t be too surprised, look at how much Avatar tickets cost.

I see your point, but the fact still remains, it can be done.
And surely with time, miniaturizing this tech will be a breeze, a 3DS spin-off with a wider 3D viewing range anyone?

[Edit]: PS:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydtDOAJzoco#t=1m24s A simpler version. (or so it looks) Not quite as big, is it? Can’t even see the camera. B)

unlikely. but I admit it’s possible. It’s also possible they will simply provide a knob of some sort so the user can adjust the screen themselves. It’s relatively pointless to have this functionality on a handheld (versus a TV) because the potential viewing angles are less extreme - you can only hold it in front of your face in so many ways.

Yes, but considering the (rarely used) addition of a camera that faces the user in the DSi, (with face recognition software as well) IMO it is also equally likely for Nintendo to take this camera gimmick to it’s logical conclusion using 3D.

I don’t get it.:brow:

I wasn’t saying anything was confirmed at all.8)

You see the name in the quote box thingy? Yeah, that’s not your name, is it?

Of course its not. And I doubt yours is either.

I’m missing what your getting at. :brow:

599 US DOLLARS!!!

Weee, more emulators to download

The 3DS does look pretty awesome, but I highly doubt there will be a second exterior camera (a la DSi)

Nintendo will have to cut back on other features since the 3D screen will cost considerably more than a normal screen. To remain competitively priced (as Nintendo has doen in the past) it is highly likely there will only be a face-tracking camera

I wouldn’t mind that, maybe make a 3DSi  that adds to front facing ones to screw with us again. “It shoots 3D video! Go buy it now!!!11!11!!!eleven” But actually, I don’t know if having the front facing camera(s) would be a problem with pricing. They don’t seem like they would cost that much.
