it’s only a matter of time before someone else decides to make a bad joke about HL3 and everyone thinks it’s about to be announced…
Well apparently the person who made that image came out and said it was a joke.
Cool beans. I couldn’t read the text that was marker’d over in the magazine spread.
I’m not laughing, they need to come up with jokes that don’t make me cry :’(
Alternatively: Don’t assume everything that says “Half-Life 3” is official.
People need to stop fucking joking about this game.
People need to shut the fuck up about HL3 and not even mention it unless they have exclusive information from Valve on the actual fucking game.

ARG’s being proved false depresses me
Damn, that one even seemed fairly Foster-ish.
Well, the ARG is true, but it concerns surgeon simulator 2013 and not valve or HL3 in any way.
Apparently Half-Life 2 had something screwy going on a few days ago. I didn’t hear about this but after some google searching, it popped up on a lot of game sites.

Basically, there was an update that had everyone speaking Korean and apparently some slightly updated models.
I have no idea what any of this means, if anything, but I thought you guys would get a kick out of this.
Here’s a news blurb about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=K6DCyGw_gRk#t=41s
Apparently, it was dismissed by a Valve employee as a mistake but it’s still pretty interesting…
EDIT: It looks like the updates models were just from one video which was spread around other sites. I still want to believe that it’s true, especially with the Surgeon Simulator stuff. That video also adds something to the Saturn stuff that involves something with a Lambda too, so it’s still worth looking into. But as it always does, it’s probably going to be nothing. Sigh…
So basically Valve accidentally broke something for a short amount of time (as they usually do) and it takes people for a ride? Wasn’t the 2013 SDK and Source code released a few days ago? Maybe they just mucked something up in preparation somehow. Not everything that happens with Valve/Steam is worth trying to find an ARG in. It only gets you angry.
I think it just goes to show how desperate people are at this point. The Surgeon Simulator thing actually seemed plausible (I mean Valve did do that whole GLaDOS@Home thing for P2), the Korean… yeah, not so much.
Regardless of if something pops up soon or not, I know a few people who have declared that they’ve given up on waiting. Can’t say I’m much further behind, myself.
Is… is that even possible? To “give up” on waiting? It’s not like they’re just going to “disown” Half-Life just because it takes so long. They’ll be right back as soon as something official is crops up.
More as in they’re not invested in any rumours or ARG or anything that pops up, I guess. I dunno.
As for me, I’m just tired of waiting. I’ll jump all over it when it comes out, of course, but for now I just don’t really care. Something like that.
Yup. It was an unintended side effect from Portal 2’s ARG. Now anytime a Valve game is updated, data miners dig through the code in order to find anything Half-Life 3 related. So when a major change happens to HL2, intentional or not, we get what happened with this. I even saw people on the Steam forums convincing everyone that there was a picture of Kim Jong-Un where Dr. Breen was supposed to be. Pretty insane.
