DOOM sucks nowadays, anyone would say CoD is better (me too)

First time I read someone post that, but whatever. Although it is undeniably true that the FPS genre has surpassed the original Doom, I doubt that in the future COD and the like will be remembered fondly. Who knows, maybe we end up playing something unexpected, like episode three.
Oh and by the way, Halo > Doom?
You crack me up kid!

You obviously didn’t read my post. I said it had huge potential because of all the modes, but the fact that, if deathmatch is in every playlist, (like they did in Halo 3 after a while) you’re mostly going to play deathmatch.
It’s already been said, and it needs to be said again. . .but I don’t believe you qualify as a man. It’s not surprising that you’re hyping about a Halo title.
A thousand times.
Halo is absolutely overrated. It has a cookie-cutter sci-fi storyline and the same tired storytelling tropes. But, like I said, that doesn’t mean it wasn’t good.
I’ve never played Halo, and I never will. I don’t even know what’s the plot, but it sucks. I feel it.
See, now that’s not a very good attitude. You can play it, and it’s pretty good. Sort of like Painkiller or Metro 2033 or Mirror’s Edge. Good games, but the earth didn’t move for them like it did for, for example, Half-Life.
I don’t know if I agree with that. I mean, I agree with the fact that Joe Freeman is dumb but I would say that Halo CE was pretty influential. Think about the sheer number of people it brought into the realm of first-person shooters, not to mention video games in general. It was very accessible and fun for a wider variety of people than arguably any other game (up to that point).
I don’t know, I think that if a game makes any sort of impact in the industry, whether you like it or not, then it means it did something right.
Many people hate CoD but they can’t deny it did a lot of things right or else it wouldn’t be as huge as it is today.
I would never deny that Call of Duty’s a good game, it’s just that Activision have turned into unbelievably greedy cunts and have been releasing that same good game since 2007.
Halo’s fine, but I still don’t see how it revolutionized anything. Goldeneye was far more influential than Halo had ever been. And that’s saying something about a licensed title.
lol
the irony
At first I really disliked BF3’s main theme, but for some reason it has grown on me greatly, especially near the end:

idk why im listening to it, I haven’t played BF3 since skyrim came out lol
I agree. COD was a game that regenerated WW2 shooters (and killed MOH).
COH tends to surf on gamers trends : WW2 --> modern war --> zombies --> futuristic combat ?
No, what killed Medal of Honor was the fact that everyone good left the studio that made Allied Assault and went to form Infinity Ward.
I ain’t 11. I was just joking… honest to God. I’m 21 years old… and for your information DOOM is still fun to play these days. So WHAT? It may not stand up today… WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? Playing DOOM on Nightmare mode is still better than playing MW3. I’m not a goddamn moron. I’m just a goddamn DOOM fan. You gotta problem with that buddy? For crying out loud, most of the old games are better than these new games. NONE of the new games have the same spirit as the 90’s (except Halo and TES, Forza, Mario, and Zelda) DOOM will always be a good game. It will always be a game kids can look back on and say “HEY THAT’S A GOOD GAME” for me it’s a good game. Yes I know I’m 21. But the game is still fun to this day.
Half-Life 1 will always be better than MW3 and BF3. Sorry, guys... But you guys NEED to seriously stop hating on 90's games and stop blowing smoke up COD's and BF's ass. Ever since BF2, and COD4... Things went downhill... They SHOULD have just stuck with WW2 games... or at least make the games more innovative with new technology instead of new perks, etc.etc.etc. Battlefield, is JUST as bad. Honestly, the "Russian is the enemy" is getting tired. I'm COMPLETELY tired of it. I'm part-Russian for your information.
Another thing, we need more games like Unreal, DOOM, Wolfenstein 3D, Quake, and Half-Life 1. That same in your face intense action, while having a good story, and just fun to play forever.
And you see… your message is really stupid… you said " It was revolutionary for its time, but the gameplay doesn’t stand up today at all."
WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU??? A GODDAMN IGN REVIEWER? THAT WAS A 1993 GAME, I DON’T CARE IF IT’S NOT PERFECT TODAY. IT’S A FUCKING 1993 GAME! >
Seriously, why do we have retards on the internet.
DOOM still a good game to play. It’s still revolutionary. It’s a work of art, a masterpiece if you will. It was the building block for Quake, Half-Life, and COD1. Honestly… COD1, and COD2 were my favorite COD games. Then it went downhill… same with Battlefield. Only BF1942, BF1943, and the WW2 BF’s were my favorite. Honestly…
You guys are just too immature. You think “OH MW3 SO MUCH BETTER! BF3 SO MUCH BETTER!”
The reason why I said DOOM was because it’s a work of art, a masterpiece, and it was the building block for those 2 games. For your information, DOOM has much better gameplay then just… “WATCH OUT RUSSIAN! GRENADE!” grenade blows up bloody screen Honestly… and there’s fucking regenerating health? There should be health packs. I like Halo because the regenerating health ACTUALLY has an explanation. The explanation is that you have special MJOLNIR Armor created by the UNSC. It actually comes up with a reasonable scientific explanation…
On another topic… Regenerating health sucks because it’s just not realistic and it kills the fun. You have to keep taking cover. I swear to God, if someone makes a game like Quake 1, DOOM, or Wolfenstein 3D next year I will be very fucking happy.
Also, 90’s games worked because the idea was there. Fun, action, and awesomeness. The devs actually cared about the player, they also didn’t care about realism either. They were trying to be as creative and imaginative as possible.
Whereas today they are trying to be as realistic as possible.
I like realistic-sci fi.
Because, it’s realistic but it has sci-fi to make it fun and not boring. (Halo, GOW, Warhammer, and Half-Life) Really, my point is…
We just need more sci-fi and fantasy FPS games out there.
We need the George Lucas of the Gaming Industry. We need something innovative, fresh, new, fun, sci-fi, FPS, and gorey.
Secondly, is anyone else GETTING sick of the same story over and over again in COD? I am. Heck, I’m playing Unreal it’s so bad. I’m 21 years old… to me I think Unreal 1 kicks COD’s ass very hard.
I mean, why is it… that NOBODY considers rebooting Unreal 1 or remaking Unreal 1? Sure, the gameplay may not “be today’s standards” But still, the only way WE will get kids talking about reboots or remakes of 90’s games… the ONLY way this generation will realize how good the 90’s masterpieces, and how there needs to be more sci-fi shooters out there… is if someone just makes a game with that gameplay.
AND WHO THE FUCK GIVES A SHIT IF THE INDUSTRY’S MOVED ON!!!
Games aren’t what they used to be. Games used to be fun, tell a good story, have fun gameplay, devs would be more creative and care about the player, and… everyone would have a good time.
Class dismissed.
:freeman:
I’m 21… and DOOM doesn’t suck. COD is just the fucking same thing over and over. It’s not EVEN fun. Honestly… you guys are the filth of the Earth who cannot realize that DOOM has better gameplay.
TL;DR
BTW, learn how to use the edit button.
I was refering to the fact that STALKER is thousand times better than Halo. Believe me, I’ve played Halo. What you’re missing is nothing you’ll find worth remembering.
Proper edit:
That’s a good one, Wolfenstein 3D having a good story. Yeah, that ending was deeply moving. Same for Doom and Quake.
The problem with regenerating health is NOT because it’s “unexplained”, that’s just an elevated whine. The real problem is that you can get all your fucking health back by sprinting as far away as possible from your enemies and taking cover. There is nothing keeping the tension alive rather than a 10 second pause between each go. In fact, that’s one of the mayor things that I liked about BF3 multiplayer.
fuck i didnt realize your were trollin sorry my bad
