MW3 vs BF3

I have come to a realization that you can’t compare these two games, as they are of different category. Call of Duty has be come a ‘Unreal Tournament’ like arcade, fast paced first-person shooter(and a bad one at that) and BF3 is a realistic-action like military fps. Although if compared due to facts Battlefield wins, I don’t understand why CoD fans have yet to realize that the game is the same. TBH I think it’s just ignorance, there is a difference between being a dedicated fan and being an arrogant and ignorant pigeon. I could understand a little more if CoD was actually worked on and they tried to improve it, but all they are doing is “Copy, Paste, and Relabel w/ a new skin.” I know what I am talking about, I used to be a CoD fan, I’ve been there since CoD1, 2, 3, 4, and I was even in the CoD 4 beta, I was hooked on the game, and I liked WaW, but any pigeon could see that CoD 4 and MW2 are the same with very few tweaks or improvements. Also, they don’t make betas anymore because they know that it’s the same game as last time, so why release a beta when they could give you a the same glitchy game on day one. I only play it because my brothers and friends play it, so it’s one of the few ways I stay in contact with them. I am very good at CoD so i’m not one of those people who say they don’t like a game because they suck at it. I just want CoD gamers to admit that there are better games out there and that CoD isn’t the only FPS there is, is that too much to ask.

So, please tell me what makes you think CoD is so much better than other FPS’s like Medal of Honor, Battlefield, Halo, Crysis.

Don’t we have a thread for stupid people to whine about Call of Duty already?

Yea, but this isn’t for stupid people, only logic.

BF3 isn’t really all that realistic either. Maybe more realistic but not realistic entirely.

it’s not 100% realistic, but it’s pretty darn close.

Different strokes for different folks.

If you want a fast paced frag fest on small maps with little to no teamwork involved, get CoD.

If you want a more methodical and tactical game where teamwork is required to win, get Battlefield.

You don’t have to be exclusive to one or another, since they don’t really overlap.

People tend to get really emotional with this shit, for some reason.

This seems to be the biggest hang up for people. They’re video games, and like movies, or books, you can like more than one of them.

Exactly. People tend to make this a “us vs them” type of deal, which is really ridiculous.

Each game fills a different niche within their own genre.

ITT: A man who has never been on a battle field pretends to know what its like

Seriously, no one here has much knowledge about what a real war is like, so stop pretending we know realism. All I can say is that in all likelihood it is nothing like a real combat experience. For example, in real combat, people necks remain at a reasonable length. Also, you aren’t terrified of your imminent death.

OP sounds like one of my friends who hates Call of Duty like hell but plays it anyway to “stay in contact” with us.

War is hell. I know because I played Arma 2.

I vote BF3 for sound design. In something like a shooter, where immersion and viscerality (not realism) reigns supreme, that’s probably the most important element that a game can have. Plus, the unlocks are limited to weapons and MINOR, REASONABLE personal augmentations.

Plus the biggest problem I have with COD is it’s community. The game itself doesn’t actually have that many issues in terms of core mechanics… .Well, I abhor the idea of killstreaks… and perks (or the particular perks that the game has) have no place in a multiplayer setting… and the weapons all seem to just be shoved into the game with no real sense of purpose or balance…

Alright, I dislike COD… I guess it’s mostly because it’s not so much a game as it is a conduit for people’s exploitative nature. I don’t mind that it’s not as teamwork oriented as some games. I’m fine with that. It’s everything else. The ridiculously low health along with the ridiculously high movement speed. The whole “if you play a week less than other people do, you’re fucked” thing. I just can’t subscribe to it. Just about every competitive component of COD goes against what my idea of what a video game is for. I guess my problem is that I see COD as a symbol for all that is wrong in shooters instead of just a game. The campaigns are still pretty fun though… But they’re getting kinda deconstructable and predictable now.

If it went back to it’s older gameplay style it had in COD I-II, I’d be fine with it.

Niether games really nail my taste though… It’s kinda why I’ve been into simpler shooters that allow more of a direct connection from player to game with less unlock gimmicky bullshit like Halo and Gears…Gotta pick up Space Marine too…wow… Is there another modern MP shooter that’s not “OAISHODHAOS FIRAQ RUSSIA WAR WARW WAR AWR AWR KJLASKHFLKJHAKSJF NUUUUKES” that’s recent? Fuck, Epic needs to make another Unreal. A REAL unreal.

Everyone’s afraid to make dumb, simple, ADSless shooters nowadays. :s … WAIT! SERIOUS SAM 3–wait. Well, it’s more the pseudo twitch style I like despite it’s use of “modern” FPS features.

We need more old style shooters. Or some revolution has to happen. Something.

In agreement with someonerandm. Unless any of you actually trained, served, and got discharged legitly, no one here can relate to real war. Also, no video game can accurately represent or re-make the experiance.

But to follow the thread’s title of MW3 vs. BF3…well…I can’t come up with anything that hasn’t already been typed. I just know that I’d rather SPEND $60 on Battlefield 3 than WASTE $60 on Call of Duty 4.3.

I lived in kenya for 2 years and got chased into my house by a guy with a machete who thought I was hitting on his daughter when I was 6. That’s kinda like war :S

Hey, I used to live in Kenya too! I remember chasing some punk-ass six-year-old around with a machete for hitting on my daughter.

Wait…

I remember some dude with anger issues swinging me at some punk-ass six year old for hitting on his daughter.

War has changed. It’s no longer about nations, ideologies, or ethnicity. It’s an endless series of proxy battles fought by mercenaries and machines. War - and its consumption of life - has become a well-oiled machine. War has changed.

Hey, i remember some 6 year old hitting on me then my dad chased him into his house with a machete hmmm.

Maybe I watched too much Band of brothers…
