MW3 vs BF3

Because it’s a relatively new technology compared to film. At least in displaying that kind of stuff. And the commonly used “it’s interactive” thing.

Actually, that “interactive” thing might carry some weight. I know that when I play BioShock, I’m creeped out massively while it’s very mild compared to what I’ve seen in movies and stuff.

The airport massacre scene in MW2 doesn’t bother me in the slightest, and that’s probably because I can distinguish between real life and a video game. :stuck_out_tongue: Of course I’d be upset if it had actually happened, but it didn’t, and so I’m not.

It didn’t bother me either. You know, I think the thing that bothers me the most is being alone. Everyone against you. I’m not freaked out by L4D or Killing Floor because I’m with people, but stick me alone in an underwater city or a game like Amnesia and I get freaked the fuck out. It doesn’t matter if they are real people or not, I just need someone next to me fighting with me and maybe occasionally saying something.

I guess I just figured out my greatest fear.

i did that once. put dead space on a 10 meter projection screen. turned all the lights outs. got to chapter 2 and turned it of because of crying brown stream of excremental waste exited my jocks.

I would like to see a game where you play as the bad guys.

That reminded me of the intro to the movie “Lord of War”, where you see the entire production process of a 7.62x39mm round (AK round), everything from being forged to flying into a child soldier’s head.

I don’t remember any fuzz about it.

And by the way, isn’t every GTA protagonist a “bad guy”? Along with the Saints Row protagonist?

No, they’re “antiheros”. They do bad things but are good, not evil. And I was talking about war games, not sandbox. I mean, like playing as Nazis in a WWII game.

Exactly, but if the same thing happened in a video game, people would flip their shit trying to get it banned because it’s a “child murder simulator” or some shit.

I think it’s because “Watching a child being murdered” is not the same as “Murdering a child”. Even if it’s only fiction

Damn it, forgot that one! Well, if you mean a shooter, then sign me up for closed beta for a shooter with a nazi protagonist. I heard a while ago in the escapist’s forums about a similar idea, except this involved exploring what the german soldier had to go through, unpleasant orders and such.

Also I agree with Joe on the child killing simulator. It would have to be pulled extremely well, or the whole scene would feel psychotic or just cheap shock (like the Bomb scene in MW3).

No… you don’t understand… I meant, the Russian is the enemy is getting old and tired. I enjoy shooting Russian Communists. But we need to move on to a new enemy.

Then why did you bring up the “part-Russian” bit? How is it relevant?

It wouldn’t matter in the slightest. If you were playing a video game and watched someone else shoot a child, everyone would flip the fuck out as well.

You didn’t HAVE to shoot anybody in MW2 if you didn’t want to, you weren’t punished at all for not doing it, you could even skip the level if you wanted to, but it still received endless amounts of controversy because of that scene.

I truly wonder why people pitch such a hissy fit over the murder of a child in a video game.

Is it because children are deemed as perfect creations of God that can do no wrong and should therefor not be tainted with the lead of an unholy bullet lest God personally come down from the heavens and bitch slap me with his dick of eternal tranquility for breaking the impregnable laws of physics? (Lord knows this isn’t true to any means)

If that’s the reason, then damned be the human race.

Black friday sale on origin, BF3 is 50% off, it’s only 30$

Also Batman Arkham city is only 25$ on Origin today.

I think it’s because society views children as being defenseless in those sorts of situations. MW3’s version of a child dying is completely ridiculous, showing some little girl hopping and dancing laughing and all that, which is an extreme exaggeration of any child I’ve ever met, it’s almost as if they did that to give the fact that she dies 3 seconds later some extreme contrast in the situation.

Well that is why they did that. It was entirely meant to be a cheap moment of emotional “depth” for the game, so they just exaggerated all of the child’s innocent traits then blew her up as quickly as possible so we could get back to killing people.

Why was an American family vacationing in England while WW3 was going on?

Why did the Russians not work out the US didn’t actually plan that terrorist attack? Why did the russians not secure their missiles so a small team of soldier couldn’t destroy half the russian fleet with them? How did half of Makarov’s army hide away in the presidents plane? How did Russia attack all of Europe at the same time after failing to capture the US and presumably losing many of their forces? Why did a diamond mine have a large bunker in it for securing hostages?
