That bothered me too. Although I have to admit that the plane level was pretty fucking cool.
Really the only cool part for me was the actual crash, the rest was just particularly linear shooting.
First part was also pretty much copy pasted from MW1.
What I didn’t get about the whole child-dying part was the fact that you can see smoke and fallen buildings and shit in the background during the video and no one in the family seems the least bit surprised. “Those wily English,” they probably thought. “At it again, demolishing their own buildings with what sounds suspiciously like gunfire and high explosive weaponry, business as usual it seems!”

The only thing is that players always go against the developer’s wishes just because there are no consequences for doing so. You’re supposed to be the good guy in Half-Life 2, so what’d I do for the first hour and half of game time? I ran around the parts of City 17 I had access to throwing shit at metro cops and hauling ass away, just because I could. Telling a player to “be the bad guy” is just going to convince them to try to do the right thing just because it goes against what you’re supposed to do.
Plus, “bad guy” is a subjective term. Hitler is portrayed as a “bad guy” in history (don’t get me wrong, I don’t disagree in the slightest), but he had his reasons for what he did what he did. He did what he did “for the good of humanity” because he was trying to create a master race out of humanity. There are always justifications for evil actions because the perpetrators of such actions don’t want to see themselves in a negative light.

I don’t know… just saying. I’m part-Russian and the whole Russian is the enemy thing is getting a bit numb. We just need a new enemy… I want to kill Nazis, Aliens, Demons, Monsters, Robots, Zombies, etc.etc.etc. But something other than the Russians… it’s getting TOO old. Sure it was brand new when COD4, and Indiana Jones IV came out. Now it’s just too old.
What about Skyrim or Oblivion? When I played Oblivion I was an anti-hero… Most of the time I was lmaos when I killed civilians and stuff. Ah… good memories. I was on nobody’s side. I just killed everyone in Oblivion… especially the Adoring Fan. Good memories…
No… It could make sense if done right. Maybe, Neo-Nazis overthrow the US Governement and make America what’s called “Aryan Amerika” and they make USA a police state. Everybody’s segregated. There’s big hatred towards the Jews and Roman-Catholics. But there’s a small Resistance team, who fights for liberty and in the end saves America from Nazism.

And wasn’t there an Xbox game that came out a while back that had you playing as an evil demon with minions? I think it was called Overlord or something like that…

Yeah, but Overlord and Evil Genius, iirc, had a bit of humor about them, almost as if they were satire of being evil. Being the “bad guy” in a game as srsfaec as Call of Duty would be a completely different experience in every way.
